Is anyone applying to the Fall 2012 program ? I have a few questions and I think it would be good to share our concerns regarding the application process here.

I am a preschool teacher and I am applying for 2012. Have very little healthcare volunteer experience and wondering if that really maters. I have some experience looking after a family member who had a stomach surgery and chemo.

hi halletkl- I just called UCLA and yes it definitely meets the requirment.

Got my letter today. Waitlisted with a ridiculously high number, so effectively rejected.

I have a 4.0 in all prerequisites (all completed except epidemiology) and volunteer with Red Cross. Graduated undergrad on the Dean's list in a non-healthcare major.

With a 4.0, I don't know what they're looking for, but I'm pretty disappointed.

I received my letter this past saturday and found out i was waitlisted. I am still keeping my fingers crossed though! Does anyone know when the accepted people have to notify the school if they are planning to attend or not?

@Blessed63

Thank you for the info!

I read on someone's post that last year 25 students from the wait-list were accepted, is anyone familiar with the numbers game for the wait-list?

This is a lot stressful than I anticipated!!!!

it's already stressful waiting to hear back and even more stressful being wait-listed. i emailed the person on the letter and asked these two questions and this was her response:

2. if individuals do not notify you that they would like to be considered for the alternate list by the deadline or individuals

decline the offer for the alternate list, will i move up on the

alternate list? yes

3. is there an estimated time in which i should here from you about my

status? (for example, do individuals who were selected have a certain

amount of time to accept or reject the offer for ucla which would

allow you to begin to choose alternates?)yes. you should be notified of any changes shortly after the deadline to accept or decline.

so the numbers game is based on our rankings and if people begin to decline offers they move down the list until all 90 spots are filled. i'm so far down the list that i'm frustrated that i will not get in. considering the fact that there is a shortage of nurses its extremely hard to get into a program! i'm bummed and praying god works out a miracle for me!

i was really bummed out when i found out i was waitlisted but am now grateful i still have a chance! I just hope to hear good news soon!

:-) that's great you are staying positive. I'm hopeful and nervous all at the same time! Everyone keeps telling me that it is an accomplishment in itself to even be wait listed. :-) Is your number pretty low on the list?

yea me too! i hate that we have to wait even longer to find out! umm its in the 20s so i guess it can go either way. what about you if you dont mind me asking?

I'm way up the list like 50s :crying2: which is why I'm thinking it will be a miracle to get in. I'm already thinking of what I can do next time around to make myself more competitive. Nursing is my dream!

aawwww:[

yea it sucks that its so competitive but things will work out for the best

Thanks vgirlie163
