UCLA MECN Fall 2020

Updated:   Published

Hello All!

I'm applying to UCLA's MECN program this year for Fall 2020. Who else is applying? I hope we can all support each other through this process. ?

What are some of the questions you may have about the application process?

I applied last year to the Fall 2019 cohort but was not accepted. I am strongly considering re-applying for Fall 2020

I also applied last year but did not get accepted...

Are there two deadlines? I saw on the website that the deadline is January 15th.

I’ve had several conversations with people admitted into the program and from what I’ve gathered the most important of the application is the statement of purpose. I’m sure you’re an excellent scholar and you have experience over the years that brought you to UCLA‘S MECN program. Spend time reflecting and writing your SOP so that it reflects your wonderful qualities and passion about nursing. ?

I’m applying this year as well!! Wishing everyone good luck!

I am also applying for this year! Good luck to everyone!

Does anyone know how much the application fee is? I thought I read somewhere that its $110?

Hey everyone! I just realized that my AP English exam will not count towards one of the two English prerequisite courses (I scored a 3 and UCLA requires a 4 as passing). I only have taken 1 other English course in undergrad because I didn’t need to take any additional ones at my university due to my ap credit.... am now scrambling to find a course I have taken that might count for my other English prerequisite. Has anyone else gone through something similar/ have any advice? I am going to be so disappointed if I won’t be able to apply to UCLA after all...

Hey everyone, I was wondering how you guys are differentiating on what to put on the personal statement vs. the nursing criteria statement?

@Jamie_future_nurse I would schedule an appointment with the admission counselors and bring in your transcripts...they will let you know what classes they will accept!

@nyrse On my personal statement, I'm just talking about myself (what's not on the resume) and what personal life experiences led me to want to be a nurse and on the criteria, I'm talking more about diversity and experiences in the professional arena.

@paigeyy_waigeyy for your statement of purpose did you talk about school stuff or did you talk about your experiences related to patient care/ why you want to do nursing?

@nyrse so just kidding on last comment! U only have to write the personal statement and statement of purpose...no nurse criteria anymore...so for my statement of purpose that’s when I talked about the patient care interaction and why I want to be a nurse

@paigeyy_waigeyy oooo wait did they just take the nurse criteria off the application?? I swear I checked a week ago and it was still there
