UCLA MECN Fall 2020

Hello All!

I'm applying to UCLA's MECN program this year for Fall 2020. Who else is applying? I hope we can all support each other through this process. ?

What are some of the questions you may have about the application process?

Just joined the chat. Congratulations to everyone who applied to schools this cycle, just applying on its own is an accomplishment. I got an email from Mark, 2 weeks ago letting me know that I am #5 on the waitlist. Pretty excited since UCLA is my #1 choice.

For those who got admitted, did they give y'all a deadline to let them know if you will be attending UCLA or not? For me, it said I needed to let them know by Fri, 2/21 if I wanted to continue to be on the waitlist. Just want to know approximately by when they will start letting people in from the waitlist.

Hey, I believe everyone has the same deadline of the 21st. Both admins and waitlist applicants.

If admitted students have the Feb 21st deadline to make a decision then we might be hearing back next week?

I tried to message you through here @InspiredNurse7 because I saw you that you are waitlisted too! But it did not let me because I am not an "active member" haha.

@imena lol this forum I am getting use to myself. I am waitlisted ??. Hopefully the odds are in our favor. But we should know either the following week or the first week in March. Keep in mind the are also processing applications for undergraduate/NP/DNP. So may take a little extra time. The agony ??

Hi! I was waitlisted and still have not heard any updates on my position. Did anyone that was admitted reject their acceptance ?

My friend who had applied to another graduate program at Ucla was waitlisted and didn’t hear anything until June when he was accepted off the waitlist. He had already put in a deposit for another school by then. I don’t think it’s uncommon for people to hear back later maybe even in April? Even people who put in a soft acceptance might not pay their deposit, and that spot gets given up to the waitlist. So I would just hang tight and be ready to go whenever! Also, in the waitlist letter, Mark mentioned that if you haven’t taken the epidemiology prereq yet, to go ahead and take it. I’m assuming because if you wait to get off the waitlist, it might be too late/short timing to take that class.

I know those who were offered admission had until last Friday to submit a soft intent to register (no deposit). I spoke to Jeimy Gama in admissions, who said they are reviewing the waitlist and will offer spots in rank order. I assume we will hear end of this week/next week.

She said any notification will come from Mark Covin. She said it is best to email him, not call.

Good luck to all of us! I just got a SoCal school acceptance letter today so I'm not as stressed now. I would still love UCLA though, so fingers crossed for everyone still holding out.

Ahhh finally some news!! Do you mind me asking what number you were on the waitlist? I wonder if they accepted people off the waitlist or if people on the waitlist took themselves off of it.

I am curious what spot you are as well @InspiredNurse7! I'm hoping that means I was also bumped 3 spots as well

Hi!

I also moved up 3 spots on the waitlist. Went from #5 to #2 on the list. I'm pretty sure that means that people from the waitlist got accepted.
