Hi- Is anyone applying to UCLA's MECN program for next fall?
I just heard from the admissions office. It sounds like there was a glitch and possibly none of the rejections were emailed/posted!:
I do apologize on behalf of the Graduate Division, they should have released the admission decisions to your email address or posted on the online application by now. Unfortunately you were not offered admissions into the program, if you like to find out how to better your application for next year please email ----------------- in June.
---------------. I'd already asked him last Thurs. and he didn't tell me then. Just told me we'd hear this week. Of COURSE though, if they already started accepting off the wait list everyone who hadn't heard had to be rejected (or whatever euphemism is preferred.) I am NOT impressed with the way this has gone down. I already have a master's degree from UCLA and experienced nothing like this during that process. Sorry everyone who hasn't heard!
I'm so sorry @ceecoxy. I'm in the same boat re: family... my mom has been going through some serious health issues and I've been putting off moving home to be with her in case I got in. The way that they have handled this is truly unprofessional and disrespectful. I just keep thinking back to the informational session last summer when they joked about how they couldn't believe how they got that far down on the wait list because "who wouldn't want to go to UCLA?". After this experience, I'm willing to bet that the answer is "a lot of people".

I'm tempted to write back, "Were you not planning on informing me of this?? Or were you just waiting for me to get so desperate I had to seek you out?"
Sorry....feeling a little bitter. And, yeah, it's totally indecent that they didn't send out official rejections - rather just a quick little "Sorry you were not offered admissions." Ugh. Annoying.
