Hi- Is anyone applying to UCLA's MECN program for next fall?
@MIB23,
From my understanding they look for A's and B's in science courses and prerequisites. They stated that a C is only meeting the minimum requirement and it's better to have B or above. However, they also mentioned in the info session that even people with 4.0's in both undergraduate and prerequisites still don't get in. They were also making sure that people didn't solely apply to UCLA and had backup schools because there is no magic formula to getting in….or so they say.
Hi everyone,
I submitted my application for Fall 2014 in late October and I wanted to say good luck to everyone! I believe we hear back between March-April. I finished my undergrad at CSULB with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Administration. I was a former Clinical Care Extender at a hospital in LB. I am currently a Research Asst. at a clinical research organization that sponsors clinical trials. This is so exciting. How is everyone doing and what backgrounds do you all have? Again good luck!
joining this thread :) I applied to UCLA MECN 2014 as well. The waiting game is so nerve wracking! I also received the email about sending in additional transcripts as I finish them.
Seems like there are a lot of UCLA Care Extenders on this thread - I am one as well! Good luck to everyone!

@ morganw1, thank you for the updates.
@ ceecoxy the program at UCSF is a 3 years program that leads you to graduating with an specialty. USF or University of San Francisco also has an entry program for the non-nurse. I think is easy because they don't require GRE. Just requires 2 letters of recommendation and is enrollment is open twice a year. Couple of my ex-classmates from State got in right away.
FYI, I also compared their curriculum with other programs and it seems like their course load is lighter. Although is a private institution, Jesuit, it has good ratings and you get connected to a great network after you finish, which is basically what you pay for in a private college.
