Have been looking around and haven't really seen a topic on this yet. This is my dream school/program. I am from Seattle so I am having to get a lot of info from them long-distance instead of going to an information session. Has anyone gone to an information session yet?
For those on the waitlist...I got the email back confirming that I want to hold my place on the waitlist. Included in the email was information on taking Epidemiology. Are any of you signing up for that now or waiting until you know that you got into the program?
Good question, because if you end up dropping the class, $150 of the fee is non-refundable. I wasn't sure at first because I don't know the odds of alternates getting accepted. But I might sign up this week anyway because I hate the uncertainty of getting shut out of that class if I end up getting accepted :/
Hey Waitlist folks...please let us know as you get accepted and what number you were, and if they called or emailed you! Also, regarding the EPI course...has anyone taken the course from BYU? (or at least know anyone who has taken it from BYU?) If so, can you tell us about it, was it intense and/or do you recommend taking it?
Another update from the School of Nursing regarding approved epidemiology courses for the MECN program (specifically for those who are considering taking "Health 345" online through Brigham Young University). Health 345 is offered both on-campus at BYU, and online. I emailed the School of Nursing to confirm that the online version is acceptable, since it would not include any lab hours (as the on-campus version might). This is the response I got:
"The online version is acceptable. Please be advised that last year some students did not get their final grades in time. Check with BYU to make sure you will finish the course and be able to submit a final transcript to University of California, Los Angeles School of Nursing no later than the end of August."
Something to take into account, if you are considering taking this course!
