UCI MEPN 2021

Hi all,

See there is no thread yet for this upcoming cycle, I know it's a bit early, but figured it might calm my anxiety to connect with others going through application!

I understand your feeling! Do you mind sharing your stats?

I also feel the same way about not being a super strong candidate (I think it's easy to get caught up in comparing oneself to others), but from what I've heard and the information that I've received from admissions advisors, the most important factors that they consider are GPA, healthcare experience, strong letters of recommendation, and being able to differentiate yourself from others and clearly state why you want a career in this profession through the supplemental essays.

Of course! I don’t mind at all

Undergraduate GPA: 3.29

Pre-requisite: 3.5-3.7 depending on the school

I have a bunch of random experiences volunteering with PTs, interning with PT and S&C coaches. Relating to nursing I worked as a CNA, volunteered as a medical scribe at a free clinic, volunteered under a QI nurse which led me to now working as a patient safety program coordinator, and went on a public health/medical mission to Honduras

Yeah I think that your volunteer and medical experience is HUGE and the fact that you worked as a CNA is such a plus. If I didn't get into any programs for this next year, I was going to become a CNA and get some experience working as that before applying again. Honestly though, I think that you are in a really good position and have a ton going for you! I wouldn't be surprised if you got into all of the programs you're applying to!

It is interesting because I feel like our background is super similar other than I am not a CNA... ?

OMG you’re so kind, let’s hope so!! Hahah right?! Wouldn’t it be a crazy coincidence if we actually went to the same school? But I’m guessing you’re located in SoCal since you mentioned UCSD

@opiedrahita OMG, hi! I'm not sure if we know each other but I also volunteer at CBTB in San Francisco and is applying this cycle. Good luck to you!!

Hi @beeeaanss — CBTB is great, you're among a group of amazing individuals! I was accepted to Hopkins, and I decided to not apply to UCI! I wish you luck as well throughout your applications!

It would be crazy for sure!! It would be so nice to get to know someone before starting the program. Yes I am in San Diego right now, but ready for a change. ?

Does anyone know if UCI does interviews? Or is it just simply accepted/rejected?

Does everyone who gets selected offered an interview? OR, of those selected, only some are offered interviews?

This is from their website: "An interview may be required for final selection of candidates"

Commenting for the thread! I’m assuming everyone selected would have to interview

Going to be a LOOOOONG wait between now and Feb/March when decisions come out...
