Hello Guys!
I know in years past there have been threads created where people could share their stats and discuss the application process. The window to apply for Fall 2016 is right around the corner (Jan. 15 - Feb. 15) and I was surprised to not find a thread.
If you feel like sharing:
Overall GPA-
TEAS-
Prereq GPA-
I will add mine separately from the post! I hope we are all accepted and are able to turn this thread into a place where we can help each other out through the application and waiting processes!
Hey guys!!! How's everyone doing?! Starting to go to my doctors appointments to sign the CON paperwork. I'm having trouble figuring out where to get my FIT test done (for the N-95 mask thing) my family practitioner doesn't offer that type of test (she went to UCF too & she said she did it at the hospital she worked at). Anyone have any luck doing this test????
Okay, this is all I can think of right now:
I really think the most valuable thing for me was getting to try on the uniforms. I'm not sure if there is another time you can try them on. As far as info goes, you should be able to get the powerpoint on webcourses soon. Unfortunately I was sitting almost as far away as you could get from the speaker so I wasn't able to catch every detail. Something about being invited to join an online course and then you'd get to see the powerpoint from today.
FIT test: don't worry about it.
Flu vaccine on the physical: leave it blank.
Clinical and lab schedules will not be out for a little while, so don't worry about them.
There is a VA clinical that you can choose to do, but must decide well in advance because it is a lot more paperwork than the others. We'll all be getting an email (one that will probably have clearer info than I am providing here) and you need to respond with yes or no, and if not, then why. They have to fill 20 spots or something like that, so I think they want a reason like 'I need to be home to take care of my kids in the evening' (they run on th/fri evenings, potentially as late as 10 pm) and not 'I want to be able to go out with friends on Fridays'. I will say that even though I am a serious morning person (I wake up without alarms 4 or 5 am and generally go to bed when the sun goes down) I am considering doing the VA clinical. I've good things about it, and the talked it up a bit today as well.
Also, the person leading my tour (a senior nursing student) said not to get the $900+ nursing textbook package from the bookstore. He either got one or two editions back of most of the textbooks or got them off graduating seniors for next to nothing. Also mentioned he never used some of the books that were required and in the package.
I know there was one for SNA or one for our year, so something does or soon will exist. I didn't catch what it was called, though, since they didn't hand over the microphone to the SNA members when they spoke I have been trying to look it up but I haven't found it. Hopefully someone else was sitting closer than I was.

I am about as lost as you! I am going to call this week now that finals are out of the way to make sure I understand everything.
