Starting a thread for others applying to this program!

Hey dlei

From what I've heard you sound competitive for UCF! I wish you the best of luck. I am also happy they have added an interview portion. I think that will help our chances. What made you decide nursing?

Hi MamaKate! Thanks so much, I hope it works out :)

I chose nursing because I always knew I wanted to be in the health field. My mom is a nurse practitioner, and my dad is a respiratory therapist. I volunteered in a hospital in high school and I work at one now (non-clinical). I want a good career where I can improve patients lives!

How about you?

I volunteered at a hospital in high school also. And when I was 13 I helped take care of my grandma in hospice when she was dying from cancer and knew I wanted to be a nurse. Also I have a 15 month old and I think having my daughter has helped me learn more patience and getting used to cleaning up messes (whether it be food, feces or urine). And I have experience coaching a 5-6 year old cheer leading squad so I feel really comfortable with children and teamwork. In case you can't tell I feel strongly about specializing in peds :) lol

Hello future RNs!

I am currently a student at the University of Florida! I am very nervous and apprehensive about getting in, so I'm broadening my choices! I absolutely love UCF and the Orlando area!! I'm really happy they have an interview process, because UF doesn't and I feel as though this is a definite misstep in their program! I'm taking my TEAS December 20th at UCF and very nervous! Hope you guys are ready to start applying and hopefully we all get in :)

Congrats to you bermuda74 for getting in!! Good luck :)

Hey everyone! I was also just accepted for the nursing program starting this spring. I went through the interview process and i honestly think it's a great addition to the program. It definitely helps you if you don't have the highest GPA and test scores. It allows the professors to see you as a person rather than just a set of scores. Good luck to you all!

So was it a group interview or were you alone? Did it help you get a better feel for the professors you would be working with?

It was a group interview of 5 of us. I think it definitely gave us a better feel of the professors. They made the interview feel very relaxed so it wasn't too nerve wracking.

Gotcha. Keep us updated on how you're doing in the program :) congrats!

@chavon13 if you don't mind me asking, what kind of questions were asked? Did you feel as though you were adequately prepared for it?

Congrats on getting into nursing school!

Hey everyone! I'll be applying to this program as well as the accelerated program and the concurrent one with SCC. I have a 3.55 overall, 3.75 prereq, and an 86.7 on the TEAS. I'm retaking the TEAS on Friday, so hopefully I'll improve my score. Can't wait to finally get the application in and find out if I'm accepted...I'm just so anxious to be on my way to becoming a nurse.
