UCF 2015 FALL BSN traditional program

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello, I plan on applying to UCF's traditional BSN program in the fall of 2015. Although there is still some time before the application period begins I wanted to start this thread to get the ball rolling for all of us that plan on applying. Also I wanted to see what the application pool is looking like for this cycle in regards to stats. Mine go as this:

Cum. GPA: 3.73

Pre. Req. GPA: 3.84

as for the teas I take it next month

(Wish me luck I've been studying a lot for it, so if u have any tips feel free..lol)

Hope to be hearing back from some of you prospective students with your stats, questions/comments w.e it may be :)

P.s. past students that want to share their experience with the UCF program so far, are also welcome :)

Also - If for some reason you get a preliminary denial, they respond very quickly if you call or email to get it corrected. I had an issue with my transcript and it was fixed within 24 hours!

sure!

overall- 3.84

science-3.66

other-4.0

teas-91.3

hope the science pre-req doesn't bring me down too much especially since it was samsam's anatomy Q.Q

Thanks or sharing! I am thinking of retaking my TEAS test! I don't feel all that competitive even though it is above the minimum requirement!

i think i saw you had a 85 or around there. thats def good to get in with. the admissions board told me an 85-86 is considered competitive and an 85.14 was the average score admitted last year (fall 2014) so literally right on the dot. (if it wasnt you that had the 85, oops xD but theres the info still to compare your score).

Yes, I had an 85.3 - thanks for the information :) Can you tell me what the advantages or disadvantages would be for taking the UCF Basic vs. the SSC Concurrent? I just feel like it's a straight shot to the same end result, if that makes sense!

Sure! there might be other pro/cons but from what i know, for starters, the concurrent is significantly cheaper than the basic bsn because you would be paying at the community college rate instead of the university cost (its about half as expensive which is a huge savings). Another difference is that the basic bsn is finished sooner- basic is 5 semesters and the concurrent is 7-8 semesters so basically another full year. There are some other more clear differences such as how the basic is done all at ucf and hospitals while the concurrents take place at their campus until you get your asn and pass the nclex, then you finish the concurrent with ucf classes to get your bsn degree from ucf. a similarity is in the nclex pass rates (without passing the nclex you cant be a nurse). Both the basic bsn and concurrent have pass rates in the upper 90's percents and both have a 100% rate for those who attempt it a second time. :)

i think the concurrent has a lot of plusses but i personally want the basic more just because i live by ucf and dont want to move, i like the ucf campus waaay more, i think the ucf nursing has better resources and simulators, and also i want to finish asap because i want to move onto the graduate dnp program so theres plenty years ahead of me in school already. concurrent is better mostly just in how cheap it is. - my opinions

in the end though you do get the same result, a ucf nursing degree and a almost guaranteed passing score on the nclex which is what actually lets you be a nurse :)

I just did my application today!

Pre-req GPA: 3.96

Overall GPA: 3.93

TEAS: 88%

Congrats eptnurse!!! Those are awesome stats! The background check and fingerprinting is pretty easy if you haven't already done it. I applied the very first day it opened and I did pay the $7 for expedited service just to be on the safe side and it was all complete and results back withing 24-48 hours. Good luck!

I am wondering if letters will go out before the concurrent window opens on 4/6... Wishful thinking :)

After we submit everything to Certified Profile we don't have to send the results ourselves to UCF right? I'm looking at my nursing admission status profile and it says that neither my background check or my fingerprints have been received even though I did them both weeks ago...

Now the waiting game begins!

No, you don't have to do anything, but you may want to send an email to the nursing department to have them take a look at it. Mine only took 2-3 days for UCF to post them! I received a preliminary "denied ineligible" email due to transcripts being received but not posted and they handled it right away... I would stay on top of it just to be safe :)

Wow yea! those are good scores!

i'm thinking about sending an email now about my application. Everything has been made green except having my pre-reqs done. All i have left is my last pre-req that im in now but i dont believe that would keep it as a no. It seems as if they just haven't reviewed it yet but its been quite a while. i had originally planned on emailing before but they updated that they got my TEAS a couple days ago so i figured i'd wait longer. i dont wanna pester them though Q.Q

honestly, since they seem to be checking each piece of every application like this, you would think they would already basically know who is getting invited and who isn't. the 6-8 review weeks are generally when you just get a flood of applications and THEN spend the time checking them. but i guess it must be more complicated than im picturing it..
