I know this is a little bit early, but I am excited and a little anxious! UCF Cocoa/Daytona is my number one choice, and I am applying for the Spring of 2016! Is anyone else planning to apply? I look forward to hearing from everyone. We are in this together!
Hey everyone! Congrats to those who have been accepted so far. I am currently a student at the Cocoa campus, and I would like you all to know it is an amazing program and you will have an amazing experience!! We have really great teachers right now who are so kind and there to help you and want you to learn and do well. It is a huge time commitment but it is so worth it. I know the senior class is really looking forward to meeting all the new Juniors at your first orientation which will probably be mid-December, so exciting!!
Oh and we have people who commute to campus from Orlando and I don't think it's so bad! The Cocoa area is not so great, so if you would like to relocate I would suggest the Rockledge or Viera area! And as far as I know, you don't have to worry about the HIV certification right now because we did it in one of our classes in the first semester, but they may have changed it I don't know. And yes, you can drink alcohol during the program, you just like can't go into the drug test drunk...
Let me know if there are more questions, I am so excited for you guys!
Do we have a facebook group for the Cocoa campus yet? If there isn't one i'll make a group and we can talk more about housing and any other issues we might have.
I looked for one and couldn't find one, I did find a program supply group for ucf nursing students, figured it might help to join since we will be needing expensive supplies soon.

Thank you so much for giving us your experiences!
Where are most of the clinicals held? I'd like to live in Orlando and commute, but I think that'd be out of the question if the hospitals and homes are in Melbourne. Would you also have any recommendations as to where most people live in Rockledge and Viera? I've been looking at apartments, but I know nothing of those two areas.
Clinicals are mostly based on where you live, we have 3 groups: North, Central, and South, based on your location in the county. It is kind of unfair at times for people who are in the North group because some of the clinical rotations have to be in the southern part of the county. For example, everyone has to do Peds and OB at Holmes 3rd semester because that's what is available, so it's a pretty long drive for the people in Orlando. First semester, the clinicals for people in orlando will be mostly in Titusville I believe. You will also have clinicals at Parrish 3rd semester if you live in Orlando.

What is the week like? How many days a week would we have clinicals? Btw thank you so much for sharing!
They actually just changed the curriculum for the first semester from what we had. The first semester I think was the busiest we have had so far. What we had, again it is going to be a little different for your class, but we had Mondays in class from 8:30 until like 5:00, we had 2 classes and and some of us had 2 labs that day. Wednesdays was another with 2 classes, if you didn't have the 2 labs on Monday, you had one on Wednesday, so the day was like 9 to 3 for some. We had two clinical days on days we didn't have classes. We had community clinicals, but you guys won't have that since the curriculum is different, but you guys will have a health promotion clinical or something like that, which should be similar. We did observation clinicals at the VA, Health Departments, Adult Day Care Centers, etc. The clinical for the second half of the semester was Long Term Care, which is more hands-on, it was Thursday and Friday for everyone, and it was from 6:30-3:30. So it's pretty busy and we definitely had a lot more busy work the first semester, but it goes by really fast and you learn soooo much.
Hi guys!
I got accepted into the Spring 2016 Program at Cocoa and I have a question!
For any of you that also were accepted, where are you guys rooming? Anyone looking for a roommate? There is literally no student housing that helps find roommates and it kind of stinks... I've heard of a lot of UCF Cocoa nurses that commuted from Orlando, but I would rather not drive 45 minutes every day to school...
What are you guys doing for housing? Hoping to meet some fellow batch mates on here! :)

Hi everyone and congrats to all that got in! I currently attend UCF at the Orlando campus and am looking to move to Cape Canaveral or Cococa Beach area in January. If anyone is looking for a roommate in that area let me know! I am super excited to meet you all soon.
