U.S.A. Florida

Hello! Has anyone out there applied to the UCF college of nursing? I applied to the accelerated program that starts in May and am waiting to hear back any day now...

I got waitlisted. Keeping my fingers crossed, though.

Definitely, last year they admitted someone into the program on the second day because we had a quick dropout. I would stay in communication with Connie in order to let her know that you're ready to pull the trigger if they need someone to fill a spot. Good luck!

I just found this site. It seems really cool and looks like it will be a lot of help in the next year. I got into the program too. I'm just finishing up my degree at UF, so I will have about 25 days to move to Orlando and start school. I'm so excited tho!!!

Congrats to you folks on getting in.

I graduated from the UCF accelerated program in 2005. It definitely was intense. But remember...the faculty and staff do not want you to fail. They will be very supportive, sympathetic, and understanding to the difficulties you will face during the program.

But...you must learn to organize your time...become efficient...and simply, just do the work. The work, if I remember correctly, isn't actually hard...but there is A LOT of it.

The hardest part really is getting in...a couple hundred applicants for about 40 spots, in my class...but don't dick around...there were half a dozen or so students that were dropped from the program, or "de-celerated" due to being slackers or not being able to get there personal lives in order.

Good luck!

Go KNIGHTS!!!

Congrats on getting in Stephanie! I'm so excited to start the program! RanRoc- thanks for the advise! It's always nice to talk to other people who have been through the same program. What kind of nurse are you?

Specializes in Orthopedic Surgical Unit.

I'm a med/surg nurse, but work primarily on the ortho/spine unit. It's basically a med/surg unit, but ortho/spine patients get first dibs on rooms...I'm looking into other fields of nursing now (informatics, utilization review, etc)...nothing definite or choosen yet...just need to expand my horizons...hospital floor nursing is physically painful at times.

Hello,

My name is Tassy and I was also accepted into the program. I am so excited!!!! I wish all of us the best of luck and encouragement as we will make it.

Does anyone know if we actually have to take the TEAS test along with the ATI at the orientation on May 13th? I was just curious if the information in the email was inaccurate?

I have a question about UCF since I'm looking at them for a ABSN. Did you take intro to chem or do they want general chem as the chemistry requirement? When I get closer I'll call and ask, but it'd be great to have an idea now. Thanks!

Congrats Tassy on getting in!and, i think we do have to take the TEAS along with the ATI. It seemed that way from the email, that we have to take the critical thinking test and the TEAS. Have they sent us any info about uniforms yet?

Thank you Stephanie. No I have not, I thought she told us to disregard the booklist and the nurse pak info until Tuesday with the updated info. I did not see anything about ordering uniforms though. By the way congrats to you also.

For the UCF program they want you to take the Into to Gen Chem. I took the course at Valencia and it was CHM1025C.
