UCAN Denver 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey guys!

I didn't see a thread for the UCAN Denver 2021 program yet so I figured I'd start one. I just finished my application a couple weeks ago! Has anyone else applied / planning on applying? I've also applied to Regis' ABSN program.

A little about me – I originally received my Bachelor's in Psychology and went to a Master's program for Clinical Adult Psychology. After moving to Denver, I decided to make the switch to software development and went to a bootcamp. I'm now eager to get back into a caring field and am very excited about eventually becoming a nurse <3!

Best of luck to everyone!

@HodorHodor the Traditional application was supposed to open Aug 15 but I couldn’t find it on NursingCAS either! I may end up calling nursingcas if it doesn’t pop up by the end of the week

CONGRATS to all those who got accepted! I didn’t get accepted but got accepted to Regis where I’ll be attending! Positive vibes to those on the waitlist :)

I also just got my acceptance letter!! CONGRATS to everyone who got accepted, I’m excited to meet everyone!
And I’m sending positive vibes to those waitlisted!

Has anyone happened to hear back from the waitlist yet? I know it’s still early but just curious

Just a confirmation that I'm on it. Not a single clue about how many people are on it, where I am at on it, or anything.

Hi everyone!

I'm a current UCAN student and just wanted to pop by and offer to answer any questions y'all might have. As a side note for all the waitlisters, I was pulled off the waitlist around mid-October last year, as were several other students. One classmate even got the call the day before orientation! Don't give up hope, and feel free to reach out to chat (whether you're waitlisted, admitted, or even reapplying for next year).

Do you think it matters how close I choose regarding living near campus with the online format? Originally I planned to be close to Lone Tree, but it sounds like with the online format it wouldn’t matter much and that we may be at the Anschutz campus just as much?

@jimboshears I'm not sure what your year will look like, but I'll answer based on my experience. Since going online, all of our in-person simulation labs have been on the Anschutz campus. I haven't seen South Campus since March, and from what I know, they're planning on shutting it down and selling it in the near future. After going virtual, I've been able to get away with living in Fort Collins and driving down occasionally for sim lab or clinical! For what it's worth, students in both my year and the previous year managed commutes from over an hour away even when we were 100% in person.

Sooooo TLDR: I don't think it matters where you live!

@Emily Pittman this is exactly what I needed to hear today! Thank you for posting this. By any chance, do you know around how many students in your current cohort were waitlisted? It’s frustrating not knowing where you stand on the waitlist or how many people actually go on the waitlist. I still have my fingers crossed that I get selected from the waitlist. Thanks again!!

@AVinson14

Off the top of my head, I can think of at least 5. Which isn't bad in of our small cohort of 72 spots! I asked my clinical group if they can think of more, so I'll let you know if I drastically underestimated it.

I am on cloud 9! I just got a call from Anapin with an acceptance offer!! I will be joining the 2021 UCAN Cohort!

@AVinson14 congratulations! I was accepted in August, so if you have any questions about what we’ve been doing so far in terms of preparation, feel free to reach out to me! So excited for you! ?
