Hi everyone! I thought I would start a thread for those applying to UC San Diego's new grad RN program!
On the website, it says the July applications are mostly posted in mid to late May. I haven't seen a single opening for the July start date. Is anyone else having this problem?
Good luck to everyone applying!
Which one was this application for? Thorton or Hillcrest? I applied for both ER positions but haven't seen a change /:
Did you have a preceptorship in ER? I saw that question and was a little discouraged because my program pm;y has internships (master's entry level, sometimes I have to put BSN for some applications)

MeeshHa, I applied to both ER positions, but the only one that has changed my status is Hillcrest. And I did have an externship and preceptorship in the ER, but it was at Scripps.
Hi MeeshHa! Only the Hillcrest application status changed for me. The application hasn't officially closed for other ED, so it may be another week before anything changes. Yes, I had my preceptorship in the ED. As well as externships in the ED/ICU. (Neither at UCSD)
Good luck to everyone :)
Oh that's awesome; you both definitely have great experience! Do you know of any new grads who do not have a preceptorship/externship in ER or trauma that has been accepted into any ER or trauma programs? I find it tough to kind of have minimal background and think maybe I should start off in medsurg and work my way to ER ?
Thanks MeeshHa!! Yes, I do know a couple people that got a job in the ED without a preceptorship first!
So don't get discouraged
Many ER nurses I worked with began their careers in ICU or floor nursing. Furthermore, a lot of ED nurses I've talked to say it can be more beneficial to start on a floor first! So either way, don't get discouraged, it's a journey :)

Anyone heard back from ICU/Emergency Department? I was wondering when they will start the interviews?
