HI! I was wondering if anyone heard anything/news/process about UC irvine medical center new grad program for med/surg. Do they do phone interviews? panel interview? emails?

I was contacted today, and was told I have a "pre-screening" by phone tomorrow. The HR lady wasn't very helpful in letting me know what that was, I asked her if it was an interview, but she said she had no idea what pre-screening was. Anyone have any other information?
Thanks! I got a call too. Ok just making sure cuz the HR lady I talked to wasn't helpful or nice. Just saying I made an appointment for you, but didn't even ask if the time was ok for me. She said it was a nurse recruiter that will contact us and ask a few questions and take about 10 mins. GOOD LUCK to you too! :)
Ha Ha! I thought the lady wasn't very nice either! I can't seem to find any information regarding this prescreening stuff, seems like all the previous UCI people had panel interviews, with no one ever mentioning a prescreening by phone! I was wondering if it was a real interview since I'm from out of state. Well, best of luck to you too:)

I also got a call yesterday, and I'm suppose to get a pre-screening phone interview today (in less than an hour). The HR lady said that everyone who applied gets a pre-screening phone interview before we get an invite to attend a panel interview. Good luck, everyone!
It was really general, when did you graduate, what have you been doing since then, why do you want to be a nurse, why UCI. I just don't like that we have to wait a couple of weeks to find out if we get to do the panel interview!! good luck!!
I agree, it was really general questions. Two weeks of waiting will be painful. She said if we haven't heard anything within couple of weeks we can assume we were not invited for a face to face interview. They will not be sending rejection emails because there are too many applicant.

Hi everyone! I have an interview set up for med/surg soon. Has anyone else heard back for an interview? I got an email from the med/surg nursing director and we've been communicating that way. Anyone know how we can prepare for this interview? Anyone who has gone through UCI's interview process with helpful information will be much appreciated! Thank you~

I interviewed for the SICU at UCI when I was looking for a new grad position. I don't know if it will be the same process. It was a panel interview with the director, a charge nurse, and another staff nurse. They ask general questions like why UCI, some behavioral/clinical questions, what do you know about the joint commission. Also, when were you contacted by the med/surg director for your interview? I have a friend who's waiting. good luck!
Thank you so much, Telenurse22! I am glad to hear they are general questions. I've never had a panel interview before (only one-on-one interviews) so hopefully it won't seem as intimidating with 2 or 3 more interviewers there! When you say "behavioral/clinical questions" do you mean questions like "What would you do in this particular situation..how would you handle the situation"? types of questions NOT like "what do you think this patient has according to his s/s and what nursing interventions will you do for the pt"? Thanks!! I received an email for med/surg on Dec. 28th and she said she was in the process of scheduling interviews. Hope that helps! :)
SO UCI is already contacting people for interviews? So far nothing on my end only that pre-screening from HR on general questions.
