Hey guys! I wanted to start this thread for those of us that have applied to the UC Davis RN residency program for the August and October 2017 start dates! This is so exciting! Let's keep each other updated and support each other along the way!
From what I heard from others, you'll likely have a combination of behavioral (brush up on conflict related) and unit-specific questions. But this isn't specifically for ICU.
Make sure you prep on generic interview questions like: tell me about yourself, why nursing, why this unit, why UCDMC, biggest strength/weakness, time you made an error, where you see yourself in 5 years, etc.
Also, review UCDMC nursing vision, mission, values, and philosophy. Review what primary nursing is.
Congrats on getting an interview!
Hi Everyone! I see that a lot of us have been noticing some status changes which is super exciting. My also changed to Route. Has anyone heard back from the ICU? Did anyone mention a specific ICU in their cover letter? I simply mentioned "I am interested in any adult ICU unit". Is it bad that I have not received a call yet? Good luck to everyone and congrats to those who have already gotten calls for interviews!
This is not accurate to my knowledge. This is not how they have done it in previous years. They interview separately for both cohorts. Should someone be selected for the August cohort and they are unable to receive their license in time, they will indeed push you back to the October start date. However, those are not the only people in the October group. I have also spoke with the New Grad Residency nurse recruiter a few times, and he confirmed that they interview separately for both cohorts and you can get called for an interview for the October cohort as late as mid September. Hope this helps clear up what the other recruiter told you! Call 916-734-7152 for any new grad residency questions you may have, he is awesome.

Thanks Ninon, BSN. I am aware about the perinatal aspect of the unit and that you begin on postpartum. Just out of curiosity, did your friends already have their licenses at the time of submitting their application? Thank ya thank ya!
