Hello everyone!
I'm starting this thread for those interested in applying to UC Davis's Master's Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN), for Summer 2022 entry, to be part of Cohort 7. Hoping this will be a space where everyone can ask questions, connect, give advise and share information. ?
Hi all. I didn't apply this cycle, but I will be submitting my application this Spring with intent to enroll for the MEPN Fall 2023 cohort. I'm still working on pre-req's. I'm posting here now hoping to learn anything I can about the application process, and to connect with anyone on here who is willing to provide any guidance and share what you have learned in the process.
My end goal is PMHNP in rural communities, but I don't have any recent clinical experience in this area (my experience is 16 - 20 years ago, and I've been working in veterinary med/genetics research since then). Looking for any insight on how important it is to have recent clinical experience directly related to your end goal, and how much, and whether job shadowing is good enough. I'm working full-time in research, and doing a grad certificate in medical Microbiology, and I have 2 young children, so if I squeeze in any time to volunteer, I probably have to put my coursework on hold, but I just want to make sure that is worth the trade.
Also, which test is preferable, TEAS or HESI? I'm planning to start my studying in a month.

Hi so the program starts in the Summer and the application period is from August to November. So the Summer 2023 Cohort would apply August 2022 - November 2022. They also don't require the TEAS or HESI
@Art3mis_ Are you asking if you need recent clinical experience to get into the program? I'm about to graduate from Cohort 5 and there was no clinical experience required to get into the program although it makes school easier if you have it. I noticed they seemed to accept a mix of people with and without clinical experience. I think their goal is to have a diverse cohort of students, not just a bunch of medical professionals getting their RN.

As far as I know there are no info sessions, when you go to the webpage for the program it asks you to watch the video instead. There is also less traffic on this thread then the previous year. its basically been a ghost town.
