Hey my fellow new grad nurses! I just wanted to start a thread for those applying to the UC Davis RN Residency program for the August and October 2018 start dates. The application opens May 2-9. Let's keep each other updated and informed about our application/interview processes and for any additional info you may receive from other sources about the residency program (i.e. people who work there, if you did clinicals there, any info you receive from nursing recruitment).

I also just got an email after reaching out to a recruiter--most Adult ICUs are also not hiring for the August cohort. I wish that they would have had a list of units that were hiring before applying.

They said that if you applied for this cohort you will still be eligible for the October cohort. But I wonder if that means we get priority? I guess they use our resume/application we submitted for this round. I'd probably want to edit mine again by then though so I wonder if we can just apply again?

What programs are you applying to? I moving back to California next week and I've one seen Sutter Health and Kaiser New Grad Program's. Kaiser's application period will be in August and Sutter Health said they only hire foothill graduates :/ I graduated from NAU.

I haven't heard anything, and my app still says routed too. It doesn't seem like they're hiring in that many departments ):

It's so weird because I received an e-mail about open RN positions for ENT/Internal Med unit, Neurosurgical ICU, and Surgical ICU. They must be looking for experienced RNs rather than new grads. I don't know. Haven't heard a lot who got hired there for the August cohort. Or maybe they're gonna call for interviews the next few days or weeks for the October cohort. Hehe. Regardless, I will start my new grad program in the other hospital. I just want to make SURE I will have a job for me. Hahahaha. I know UCDMC is too good for me to be true. So maybe UCDMC is not for me. I have to accept that. Hehe.

I got hired at Doctors Medical Center (Modesto, CA). There are 47 of us who got hired, and we're gonna start on July 23. The other one that I just had an interview is at Lodi Memorial Hospital (Lodi, CA), and they're still doing interviews this week. I think LMH is still accepting applications, because their starting date will be on August 14.

Congrats on getting into a residency at DMC! Honestly for myself, i've given up on UCDMC lol. Guess it wasn't meant to be. I believe I'll also be starting in a different residency program this fall.
