Hi everybody! I haven't found an active discussion thread for September 2019 applicants to UBC's BSN program yet, so here is one!

Richmond is not too far, I think in rush hour you might be looking at 1 hour including parking/walking to class time. I actually drive through Richmond to get to UBC area and i think that's what it usually takes me at least! If you down load the HonkMobile App you can use it to pay for parking at UBC and when I clicked on the thunderbird (R) it gave me $10 for the day. I think it is only the roof, the rest of the thunderbird lot seems to be $4/hour like you said. A parking permit is $370 for the semester for one parkade and I've worked out the parking cost without a permit to ~$364 if you parked on the roof so it's pretty much the same whether you get a permit or not I guess. It seems like you can choose either 1, 2, or 5 parkades for the permit and the more parkades the more expensive it gets. I'm guessing if you choose 1 parkade they will assign you the one parkade to park in and if it is full you are out of luck that day. But getting to campus for 9am should probably get you a spot I would think!

I'll be commuting from Surrey! I'm gonna be taking transit, but on lab days I might just drive depending on which time slot I get for the two hours.

I was thinking of doing the same thing possibly, because for the lab day at least one way of the commute will be against traffic or not at rush hour right. If the train came out to Langley i would definitely transit, I’m just worried about the buses being full and then being late for class or something ?

Same that's my fear i don't wanna be late for class at 9am! I think the best thing is to try out both for the first few weeks of school and see how it goes from there. The good thing is we only have to go up to campus 3x a week once clinicals start so we won't be doing this everyday haha

My admission did go through, after all. What a relief! I accepted on campus housing, but now I'm not feeling so confident about it. Is anyone else living on campus?

Haha that's true. I live in North Vancouver so my commute and driving times aren't so long at all. You'll find a way to transit from far-away places! Carpooling is an option ?

Hello @Tanner Allen! When you deferred last year did you still book your mask fitting, criminal record check and immunization? I got an email saying I need to do these to secure my seat.

have you guys seen the schedule? do we actually have labs all those days and clinical all those days?? or is that just a general indication of what we could be assigned?

All the labs are accurate because we need a lot of training before we start clinicals in September! Clinicals will be either tues/weds OR sat/sun

oh, thank god! for a second I thought it was just going to be 7 days a week for the next few months

Ahah I know ? the schedule makes it looks scary! The labs are supposed to be 2 hours in a day — it just depends on the timeslot we get. Once clinical starts we only get 1 day of labs and are only on campus for 2.5 days per week, phew.
