Hi everybody! I haven't found an active discussion thread for September 2019 applicants to UBC's BSN program yet, so here is one!

Congrats! I went from #34 on the waitlist to #22 so I'm making progress! Hopefully after the June 15th deadline, things will go a bit quicker for me haha.

Thank you!! That sure is some great progress already!! Good luck!!!!!!

Hi everyone,

I had a great time talking to everyone over the past few months. However, I have decided to choose UofT nursing over UBC. Another spot on the waitlist will open up. It kills me to have to turn down such an amazing school and program, with such great students! Thanks for all of your help, and I wish nothing but the best to all of you in the future! We shall all be great nurses someday!

Hello everyone,

I am getting so confused with the type of official transcripts required by June 15th.

Is it the official transcript for all courses up to December 31, 2018 (the courses that counted towards the GPA calculation)?

or all courses taken up to now so including Jan-Apr 2019 term?

^ Sorry, it must be the Jan-Apr 2019 term official transcript

We’ll be sad to see you join another cohort, but best of luck to you as well!!!

Out of curiosity, do you live in Toronto? I’m sure it was hard to take various factors into consideration when picking a school!

Personally, I never applied to East Coast schools because of A. costs of living; B. proximity from family/friends (I was born and raised in Vancouver my whole life), C. UBC is closer to me, obviously ? A HUGE part of my decision to attend UBC was my future hospital placement: of course, as a Nursing student in Vancouver, getting licensed and practicing in a Lower Mainland hospital (ie VGH, St. Paul’s) is my priority/common sense.

Although UofT may have more breaks than UBC for students, UBC has a February reading week, normal Christmas break (and regular exam period), a week break between Jan-April and April-May semester plus Easter Fri and Mon off, then August off. The UofT 24 month vs 20 month program difference isn’t too bad either.

I hope you enjoy UofT!! ☺️

Does anyone know if UBC students (only attended UBC) submit a transcript?

Also, did anyone have to email their criminal record check? Mine will not process online even though I am born in Canada with credit history and an address and im worried I won’t meet the deadline.

You don’t have to email it online — the June 15 deadline asks for a RECEIPT/proof of submission that you requested - then went through - an online criminal record check, not the criminal check results ? In BC, they send the results directly to UBC in 3 business days or more.

No, they don't

But I've been attending a different school Jan-Aug 2019 since graduating from UBC. That's why I was wondering if I still have to submit that

Just got an email for my registration date :D

I'm getting so excited!

Me too!! I can't wait to register! Just making sure -- we're registering for a STANDARD TimeTable for BSN Year 3 right?

I'm so glad we don't have to worry anymore about not getting into courses because it's full :P
