UB Nursing School application essays

Published

I'm applying to ECC and University of Buffalo for nursing school. I have to write 7 essays for UB, each one has a 2,000 character max. Does anyone know if it's better to keep the essays short (700 characters) or make them closer to the 2,000 character maximum? I've just started working on them and it's a daunting task! The first one I wrote was around 700 characters and I'm thinking I should expand on it.

I'm applying to UB's Accelerated program this fall. Did you get any essay advice from somewhere else? Which school are you going to this fall?

In general, if there is a 2,000 character maximum you don't want the essay to be more than 1,800 words. It's best to keep the essay around 1,000 words in my opinion. I would make your essay a little bit longer since it's 700 words. Being concise is a good thing though! The real question is: Did you answer the question thoroughly? Is grammar and punctuation perfect? Have someone who is a great writer edit your essay to see what they think!
