UALR Nursing Applicant 2020

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello,

I did not see any forum for UALR 2020 Applicants out there so I created one. I applied to accelerated program and my GPA is 3.44 in pre req and 3.15 at UALR. hopefully I get in. I only have STAT and chemistry left for both BSN and RN, and I am taking them both right now.

UALR is my first choice as well which is why I would hate to pay the $200 if its not needed.

Congratulations guys. I am still studying for my TEAS Test.

Anyone plan on working while in nursing school? If so, what are you options as far as jobs?

I know how you feel. The wait is killing me. I also have 2 boys ages 3 and 1 and I am 38. I have a BS degree in business management but I can’t find a job. So, here am I again starting all over. ??‍♂️

I know how you feel as well. I’m 25 with two kids. My son is 3 & my daughter is 6 months currently. I’m terrified of being able to juggle everything plus being able to work somewhat. I have a BA in psychology, but it’s just not my passion. Nursing always was. What’s your biggest fear?

I’m glad I’m not the only non-traditional student that is also a parent. Everyone in my pre-admission session looked college age. I’m a 30 year old mom of a ten year old. I have a BS in nutrition, pre-req GPA is about 3.4 (I don’t have copies of all of my transcripts so had to try to remember all of my grades.) My Original career goal was to be a Dietitian, but in my internship I quickly realized it was not for me.

So far I feel like the oldest ????

anyone out there over 38 years??. Like I said I have finished all my pre req for RN and BSN Except for Chemistry. I really hope I am doing the right thing getting the second degree ?‍♀️

Yes, I work at uams as a patient care tech.

Hello! I have also applied to UALR! My nursing GPA is 3.68 and I applied for accelerated track. I'm really hoping to get it. It looks like, judging from previous forums, that they will start sending out letters on the 13th, which is the second Friday of the month. My friend went to the information session yesterday and they said that they have 300 spots, and 600 applicants this year. I'm crossing my fingers for all of us!

I’ve been trying to get a patient care tech job. I’ve applied at St Vincent and UAMS with no luck.

Apply to Baptist. We’re always hiring.

Do they still have that rule about only getting hired 3 times? I’ve worked there before, and it’s my favorite out of the handful of hospitals I’ve worked at. I don’t want to use up my second hiring ?

Oh, I’m not exactly sure about that. I can ask around. But I mean as long as you go PRN, you’ll be able to stay in the system.

Do you by chance know if they offer any benefits for PRN? I’m trying to figure out what to do health insurance wise. This uncertainty is so stressful.
