UAB Summer 2014

I've been lurking here, looking to see if anyone would be starting a thread on the UAB MSN cohort for Summer 2014. Nobody has yet, so I'm doing it!

Application deadline is October 28th! Is anyone else applying to start next summer? I've applied to the WHNP program, and have gnawed my fingernails down to nubs over it.

Did someone calculate your last 60 hours? My overall is a 2.93. Not really sure how to calculate my last 60 as my bsn program was 67 hours total. I was hesitant in applying to UAB but one of the advisors urged me to. I've done well on my mat and was told to have excellent references and a great essay because they count a lot. Were you all and to bsn RN?

I just use an online GPA calculator and entered in my most recent 60 hours' grades and it calculated them for me. Granted, UAB may use some different metric, but I basically went by the letter of the law for it.

I'm in an RN-BSN program right now, and will be finished in May.

I've applied to Acute Care Pediatric NP and Pediatric NP (second choice). Anyone applied for those or know anything about how many they accept? Any information would be helpful! Thanks.

I'm wondering how each item is scored....gpa, essay, etc. like what point value do they give to each item

I'm not sure, although they definitely do score them. My admissions advisor let me know that they'd be meeting to discuss applications this week, and then send them off to the School of Nursing for scoring, and then decisions would be sent out after that.

Me too! I emailed the admissions coordinator for the MSN programs and haven't heard back yet. SO IMPATIENT.

I emailed them today too. No reply :(

If we don't hear anything this week, I figure we won't hear next week either with it being a holiday week.

Ugh, I hope that's not the case! I was talking to one of my recommenders, who is a PMHNP student at UAB now, and she said it was months before she heard anything, and notification came by mail and not by email or phone call. I am too impatient for that!

It looks like the people on here who applied for Fall 2013 admission found out about a month after their application deadline, which gives me more hope than my recommender's story.
