Hey everyone. I have applied to the Acute/Primary Peds NP program at UAB for fall 2016. I am currently driving myself crazy as I wait for my acceptance letter!! I figured I would write this post to see if anyone else wanted to be crazy with me while we wait!
Tinker bellOne of my friends is in her 2nd to the last semester for PMHNP. She said the worst semesters are the first two and after that it's not too bad. It becomes a lot more enjoyable when you start studying what you want to specialize in. She said it's definitely not easy and that working 36 hours a week, studying and doing clinicals has been exhausting but if you stay organized, it is doable.
Thank you!
Second your comments. Have bachelors degrees in biochemistry, cell biology, nursing, and currently enrolled in MBA program. Would have been logical for me to pursue CRNA or acute care with my background; however Psych is a perfect fit for me. I enjoy talking to patients and sincerely want to help. Only track I applied to. :) look forward to meeting everyone and congrats!!!
What did it say when you logged in?? It will let me login but when I get into it all it will let me access is employee and research information...no academic. But I have never been able to login at all before. Curious what is looked like for you? I am hoping like you I just don't have full access yet.
Are there any others who applied for FNP that are still unable to login in with a blazer id. I've never had access to my uab or blazer net.. Didn't know if that was the norm. When I look to see if I have an id I get my initials with random numbers. Feeling discouraged after reading about so many others successfully logging in!
I never checked to see if I had an id because others were saying even though they created one before they had to make a new one due to the password rules changing and then activate...if it lets you activate wait a few hours and see if it will let you in. Best of luck...I haven't seen any fnp posts about getting in yet and I know that is always the largest group applying. Hopefully you get an answer soon!

I would like to respectfully disagree with your comment. I graduate summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA from The University of Texas with my BSN. I chose the psychiatric nurse practitioner program because I am passionate about mental illness. I consider myself a brainiac yet I chose the program where I believe I can make the most difference in the lives of my patients. I commend all the students who are going into the field of mental health. This population is undeserved and needs nurses who really want to make an impact on the lives of others. These patients suffer from a lifelong illness that cannot be cured with a simple prescription. Psych nursing is so much more.
