I have applied to UAB's ACNP program for Fall 2013. Just wanted to start a "roll call", if you will, for all those applying to any of UAB's NP programs for fall 2013 so that we can kind of keep each other posted on the progress of accepectances and etc. Good luck to everyone who has applied! I look forward to hearing from each of you!!

OK cool. I was confused. First semester I take advanced Patho and another class (forgot the name) about advanced practice nursing or leadership.... I think. I'm an hour away from my packet. If I remember correctly, everyone takes the same first few classes. :)

They are phasing out the Adult Nurse Practitioner and Gerontology Nurse Practitioner programs and going with adult-gerontological instead since this is what the certifications are changing to. Check it out at the certification sites (http://www.aanp.org and http://www.nursecredentialing.org) to see the new information about certification changes.

Hey guys. I was accepted into the adult-gerontological NP program for Fall of 2013. This wasn't my first choice but I did get in!! I'm wondering what the difference is between this program and the regular adult program? Same coursework with a little more emphasis on the elderly? My plan is to join a pain management clinic when I am finished and wondering if this program is sufficient. I've heard that they have basically combined most of the adult programs. Looking for some insight. Thanks!

I'm not so sure that they mailed them out on Friday. I live in Columbus, GA and I received mine in the mail ON Friday! It should have taken approximately 2 days to get to me but I don't know. My packet was for the Adult-Ger/Women's Health track.

Has everyone recieved their welcome packets? I still haven't gotten anything at all. No acceptance letter, rejection letter or email...

I haven't gotten anything. I have a great GPA so if i don't make it I have to assume it was either my experience (I don't have a lot) or my essay. I'm still hiding out some hope but I've honestly started looking at other schools. I do have an app out for USA for this fall but I'm not totally sure if I'll go there after reading some posts about them on this site. Anyway.... Fingers crossed we hear from UAB soon. I don't mind being the last picked for the team as long as I'm on it! GL to you.

I too am still holding out some hope; just not much at this point. I was accepted last semester, but could not attend. I have a great GPA. I am not sure what the issue would be. I didn't apply to USA. I know little about them. I have started looking at other options. Rizz, what are some of the schools you are looking at? Maybe we will all have an answer soon, one way or the other! Good luck everyone!

I am a new grad so I literally have no experience other than the job I just started so I assumed I would have to reapply in the spring.

I'm looking at distance options like Loyola, Georgetown, University of Arizona. I'm also looking at my local schools.

I also have yet to receive any information or packet. I have a good GPA and 2 years of ICU experience, my references checked out and I exempted the GRE.... Only thing I could think of is my essay. I have started to lose hope as well considering other people have already received acceptance letters but maybe there's a good reason that we haven't received anything yet and who knows what it may be. Trying to keep up some hope. Good luck everyone an hope we all hear something soon.

Glad to hear there are still some people who haven't heard anything! Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting.

Hey Folks,

Do you think its too late to complete the FAFSA?
