Hello fellow grads! Just wanted to share that I passed my AANP AGNP exam today and since I have searched through the site throughout this whole process I wanted to share my experience... I want to begin with saying how SCARY the whole idea of this exam is to all of us. All of us have the testing anxiety and all of us see this test as a HUGE milestone in our lives/careers. I know that we have all heard horror stories of review courses not reviewing the correct material. I will tell you that I passed after three hard weeks of studying. I took a barkley course that was required during my last semester of school and we had to complete quizzes at the end of each week. I felt like this was a foundation, but since I was still trying to work and complete deadlines for class it was very difficult to really focus on the barkley information 100%. So after graduation I decided to take the barkley live review course. I felt this review was extremely helpful and it provided a real solid knowledge base. Barkley recommended you not take practice questions until you have mastered his information and I agree with this 110%! When I first started I was scoring 50s, 60s, but as the weeks progressed I was achieving 80s, and right before my test I made a 93% on one of the DRTs! In addition to Barkley a friend recommended the Liek book and I really kept this at my side for the last week and a half of studying. As Barkley may provide an outline, Liek provides more information and really I think my scores started to improve after reading Liek. The book provides testing tips which were extremely helpful. I share this with you because up until this afternoon I was in your shoes. I was scared, stressed, and extremely anxious. Although I studied I was concerned perhaps I just didnt study enough? Someone on the board mentioned that this is an entry level test for NPs... I do agree but it is a test of mastery. I do think that you need to know not just to recognize the right answer but sit there and ask yourself, how will I justify this option? So going back to test questions - yes, absolutely, practice! Liek has 500+ questions in the back of her book which is highly recommended. You probably will not see these on the exam but it does allow you to train your mind into how they want you to answer and what may be expected of you. I hope this helps all, good luck to everyone. Congrats for passing! You have given me hope. :) I am taking my test next week and so far I have received horrible feedback from classmates! They say Barkley did not prepare them for this. I took the live review and have memorized the Barkley book just as he recommended. I have used 300 plus flashcards! I have also skimmed through Leik and from what my classmates have said Leik helped them most. I am just very nervous just like everyone else I just do not know what to expect.. I will definitely follow least expensive/least invasive but did you find that you were receiving more questions regarding atypical symptoms for the gero population? Thanks!

Thats awesome, congrats everyone!! So I am still not able to register for BlazerID but I spoke with student affairs and they said that the Adult Primary Care program students may not be able to register until late May. So I just sent over my signed acceptance form, cant wait for August!!

Hey Everyone! I received my welcome packet for the Adult NP program - it is emphasized that it is for primary care so I am not sure if they have merged both primary and acute care.. Congratulations to everyone, cant wait to get started!!

So Blessed - what did you use as your ID to register at the end?

So excited! I contacted UAB Student Affairs office and they were able to list all the transcripts on my application... They said that they havent had an opportunity to upload lists for everyone but they do have everything; just incase anyone else has come across this problem... Keeping fingers crossed!

Does anyone else see that? When I go on my Dashboard I see where application is complete and the date that it was submitted... It does not have a section for application fee... It just gives me the option to print receipt. When you click on that it will just give you a receipt on date application was submitted. I received confirmations from my prior school that the transcript was delivered to them. I'm confused as to why I am not seeing that listed... It does not even have a list of the schools on my dashboard screen. :/

Does anyone know where the transcripts are usually listed in the Apply Yourself screen? Is it listed on the Dashboard?

Hi Everyone! So I applied to the Fall FNP program. I did things a bit differently; I submitted all transcripts as I was completing the application process. How do you find out if they received all the transcripts? Good luck to everyone here, hope we all get accepted!!

I tried that and unfortunately it made matters worse! Her complaint was that I talk like she is beneath me....I think she has her own issues but after being kind, whats next? Give her a taste of her own medicine?

Hi Gang! So I need some advice. Fairly new nurse - working in private practice for 6+ months now...I love it! Love the patients, love the specialty, love the doctors...everything. I have learned a lot throughout these months - how to mix chemo, working our computer system, getting around insurance companies but nursing school did not prepare me for this. This being one nurse who has more than 5 years experience over me, that everyone says is threatened by me, and who just won't leave me alone. I have spoken to managers, no resolve. I have spoken to her, just seems to get worse. What do I do? I am a smart little cookie and I know my stuff! But she will come to me infront of the doctors and say....Have you done this? Did you remember to do this? And I smile and say yes...and show her proof! But she constantly wants to prove me wrong and is just harrassing me! What should I do? The energy out of our day is just not worth it. When we're supposed to be focusing on the patients she is constantly trying to prove me unfit to do my job. Its kinda getting humorous but I think my biggest peeve is her going to the doctors with her so called complaints! Thanks in advance for your advice!

Thank you for clearing this up! How do you handle cases where patient does not speak english but family member does and family member would like to know results of labs/scans etc?

Working in private practice - patient's sister calls describing herself to be patient....new patient that has never been seen before. Sister requests path report results, thinking this is the patient, information was provided. At end of conversation, patient's sister tells you 'I am actually her sister and I was just trying to clear up some information for her. Since there is a problem with transportation we will have to reschedule.' You ask when she would like to reschedule patient's sister tells you she has to look at her calendar and find a day and time she can bring her to clinic. Is this a HIPPA violation?
