UAB CRNA 2018

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hey guys!

I wanted to to start a forum for the UAB CRNA 2018 applicant class since applications are due tomorrow!

Submitted my application not too long ago and am super excited/nervous!

Specializes in MICU.

How long did it take for NursingCas to verify your transcripts?

Still waiting for mine to be verified from over a week ago.

It took mine a month

Can the school see your transcripts in the verifying stage?

I don't think so, I'm not 100% on that but I don't think they send in your application to uab until they have everything they need, including verified transcripts. You could email them tho. They replied very quickly to my questions via email.

Yikes! That is not good.

No, transcripts don't have to be verified first. Once your application is in "Complete" status, UAB will be able to view it and start working up your application. As long as all your transcripts are received by NursingCAS, UAB can view it, even if it's not verified yet.

Submitted my application 06/25. Good luck to everyone!

Does anyone know when the applications will begin to be reviewed? Or when applicants will be notified of whether or not they've been granted an interview? I submitted everything that was required I'd say probably back sometime in March, April, or May (not quite sure, because I submitted my stuff really early). I still have not heard back. As far as my stats go, I possess the following: Bachelor of Science in Biology, Texas Teaching Certificate in Science, Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Possess the following certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS, CCRN, and have formal training in interpretation of arrhythmias and modalities, IABP, Swan Ganz, and sedation. I've shadowed multiple CRNAs for a minimum of 24 hours. I have multiple letters of recommendation from: Doctors, CRNAs, Unit Director, etc. I have lots of community service hours. GRE: 146 quant (didn't answer all questions, forgot to), 150 verb, and 4.5 writing. As for my professional background, it's pretty broad: I have Biotechnology experience working in a lab setting with synthetic DNA oligos, I have management experience in a manufacturing company in Mexico, I have teaching experience, and nursing experience. My nursing experience entails: 1 year of CCU at a level 3 Hospital, and 2 years of CVICU experience at a level 1 Facility (the only level 1 facility within a 250 mile radius), we see people of all cultures since we are located on the border of Texas and Mexico, in the same city of the largest or one of the largest Army bases in the US. I have open heart experience, managing vents, and using vasoactive medications. I'm bilingual fluent in English and Spanish. I've lived in multiple parts of the country including Huntsville, AL. I wish you all the best of luck, and look forward to interviewing and hopefully getting in and meeting you all.

According to UAB website, notifications will go out in July and interviews will be in August/September. Application deadline isn't until June 30th. Good luck to you as well!

Any idea as to the type of interviews that UAB have? Personal or skills based?

I hear it's laid back and personal. More of a "get to know you" interview. No knowledge based clinical questions.

Check your spam. I had an email about interview in there. Not sure why it went to spam.
