Has anyone out there applied for UAB's AMNP Program that starts in May 2009? If so, has anyone received any information on the status of their application?
To answer some of the questions-
1. Shoes- I personally have the Dansko clogs so clogs types are fine- they tend to frown on Crocs though. If you want Dansko, if you go to Clogs Central and use the discount code Dansko10 or Dansko15.. they are a little more reasonable.
2. PDA- the PDA they had set aside for us at Snoozy's is a Palm Tungsten- the reason I don't like it is because this particular model does not have wi-fi capabilities. I am sure they have certain reasons why they recommend this model (and by recommend... they really didn't give us any other option) but I have yet to discover the reasons. I personally have now giving up the ghost with the PDA and am getting an iPhone.
3. The nursing software for the PDA is called Nursing Central by Unbound Medicine. The following link tells you about it and what platforms it runs on- I assume it can work on all platforms.. I just haven't met anyone in my class that uses a windows one.. http://www.unboundmedicine.com/store/nursing_central_pda_wireless
4. With the Palm, we also had to buy extra memory to be able to store the software.
5. I do have all my books from the previous year- as some of you mentioned- you can continue on to the NP track which is what I'll be doing in a year.. so I have to see which ones I'll need to keep (I'm guessing the Physical Assessment (Mosby) and the Pharm book).
Survival tips- it is intense.. and I think no matter what people tell you before you go it- you really don't understand it until the 2nd day of class. I just got into a system really quickly so I knew I would study so many hours each day.. so that way it wouldn't pile up on me.
The residency program is still a work in progress- the good thing for you guys- is that my class is working the kinks out. I'll have more information about that I think as April rolls around.
Rachel- Thank you so much for all this help. I hate how we aren't sent most of this information but now I can get a head start on everything thanks to your information!! That is pretty annoying about not having WiFi on the PDA, I would rather get something like an Iphone or a Blackberry or something. Thanks again!
Yes I sent that all in via priority mail so they should have received it last Monday. I also just got my CPR certification this past Sunday. I've been running around trying to get all of this done and working 30 hours and still in school full time! I'm ready for this to just start already:)

Makes sense. I won't get medical clearance for Dr appt is not until next week.
Rachel...another question if you don't mind. What is the software that is required for the PDA. I just bought a new phone and have 15 days to return it. I can just get a phone that the softwares works on.
