Hi! I didn't come across a thread for the upcoming UAB AMNP program applicants so I decided to create one. I am still working on my application at this time. I'm super nervous because I don't have any patient care experience and my undergraduate GPA isn't great. I have a master's degree already in another field and my GPA there was pretty good. I'm working on getting some volunteer/shadowing experiences before submitting my application so fingers crossed!
Hi @KDRoss,
Are shadow hours expected? I don't feel like I saw a mandatory section for that. (Please correct me if it is - I don't want to miss a THING!) I want to submit based on my current work experience by the end of the month. I really want to go to either UAB or DePaul. I also have two prerequisites to completed for both schools.
Good luck!
Hi @ann35211
Shadowing hours are not required but recommended. Since they will not be considering my grad GPA (my undergrad is not that awesome), I'm trying to do everything I can to boost my chances of getting in. If you have work experience that involves direct patient care you should be fine.
Good luck to you as well!
@KDRoss I think I’m going to submit my application once I began my last class
@Cassian14 Heyy and I’m not for sure. Did you try emailing Mrs.******? If you go on the AMNP page and click on contact us you’ll see where they have her listed as the point of contact for questions.
Hi, guys! I have been watching this thread for a while and wanted to drop a comment. Is anyone else taking the GRE? I have a 3.6 undergrad GPA so I can waive the exam, however, I am still taking it just for a booster for my application.
As far as the rest of my stats, I am shadowing a Nurse Practitioner. My only worry is that my fundamental GPA is lower (a 2.98, sooo close).

@ShayShaw That's great! I'm trying to decide if I should wait until I'm registered for my last two classes to submit my app or go ahead and submit it once I get my shadowing hours. I kind of just want to get it out of the way and remove some of my anxiety.
