UA MEPN 2018

Published

Hey everyone! I know the application deadline is a ways off, but I just wanted to get a forum started for those of us who plan on applying to the MEPN program for 2018! I have all my prerequisites finished and just have to take the HESI. I already took the TEAS for some other schools and scored very well, so I'm not too concerned about HESI as I hear it is a much easier exam without any science content required by UA. Has anyone already taken it? What did you think and how did you prepare? My last 60 units GPA is a 3.80 and my prerequisite GPA is a 3.96. I'm a little nervous about the interview as I have heard in the past it is very short- about ten minutes of talking time. I'll have to figure out how to eloquently but succinctly express my preparation for nursing school and interest in the field. Good luck everyone!!

Congrats to those who were invited to an interview in Tucson. If you received the email, you've got one foot in the door. The interview is pretty smooth. They ask two people the same 3-4 questions (odd, i know). Straight forward as it gets. Good luck and we hope to see you future MEPNers soon!!

No beard policy. As long as you keep it within reasonable length, and neat, you should be good. Hospitals don't mind either.

Ladies, what do you plan to wear for the interview? A suit, or slacks and a nice blouse?

I have tattoos so I'm going with a long sleeve suit with a high collared blouse just to make sure I don't run into any trouble. My visible tattoos are just flowers and a heart but I don't want to ruin my chance at a spot in the program because I'm too proud to cover up.

What questions were you asked and if you know what others in your cohort were asked?

Thank you!

Hi everyone, Congrats to those that got in! I was going to apply but I thought I needed to boost up my GPA first. I was wondering if some can share what stats I should shoot for as far as my GPA. I took the HESI I got an 98 in math, 76,80 and 84 for the english sections. I got a combined score of 84.5, is there some hand out I can study to be a better candidate?

Thanks!

I was invited to interview my stats are: Pre-req GPA 3.6, last 60 GPA 3.7, HESI A2 92. A friend of mine also applied and was not invited to interview his stats were: Pre-req GPA 3.5, last 60 GPA 3.47, and HESI A2 88. Hope this helps.

I got at 94 in the HESI, I had an overall GPA of 3.8, a 3.4 on the last 60 and prerequisites were a 3.9

Current MEPNer stats: HESI 91, GPA overall (3.0), last 60 (3.1). Hope that helps future applicants. I suggest taking more classes... for those with a lower last 60 GPA. I took two classes at a CC right before applying and got A's, that could have helped me. Good luck!

I would definitely work on improving individual HESI scores.

Hey guys! Does anyone have any idea how many people get interviews vs how many people they accept?

Specializes in Registered Nurse (RN).

I called a few days ago and was told that they received approximately 250-300 applications this cycle. They granted approximately 150 interviews and they have seats for 114 students between Tucson and the Phoenix location.

Hi everyone. I'm part of the 2017 cohort in Tucson. I just wanted to let you know that a bunch of us will be at the College of Nursing on Saturday to tell you about the program and answer any questions you may have. Good luck!
