It's never too early to start talking! I'll be applying this fall for the 2017 cohort. Who else is applying? Are there any current or recent alumni that can give their insight on the program? What will the interview questions be like?
You'll get 40k in federal loans automatically. Any additional expenses, including living expenses should be covered by the graduate plus loan. It's super easy to get, provided you don't have a bankruptcy or a lot of debt in collections. I also have been worried about paying for it, but I've done a lot of research and the federal government really provides a lot of loan money for grad students.
The 40k in sub/unsub loans will be given regardless of credit. Look at the credit guidelines for what is considered "adverse" credit for the plus loans. That should help. If you don't meet those, you can get a cosigner. I realize that obtaining a cosigner is often easier said than done. It looks like there are a lot of scholarships as well.
You will need to take the American Heart Society BLS course. It will qualify you for adult, child and infant CPR for 2 years. The CON will send you a packet via email shortly with all the information you need about that and more.
They will also be providing you information about scholarships through the CON. Also, if you haven't yet, sign up for the U of A scholarship website and start applying. Go ahead and fill out your FAFSA -- it is pretty easy. It autoloaders most everything off you tax return from last year.
Congratulations to you all. Get ready to be busy!!
