Dr. Ashish Jha, the director of the Harvard Global Health Institute, told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that the current data shows that somewhere between 800 to 1,000 Americans are dying from the virus daily, and even if that does not increase, the US is poised to cross 200,000 deaths sometime in September. https://www.businessinsider.com/harvard-expert-predicts-coronavirus-deaths-in-us-by-September-2020-6?op=1

The past two weeks of protest rallys over the death of George Floyd will surely impact these stats over the next 2 weeks.

Well, it looks like the end result of the months-long experiment to de facto imprison all Americans at home was this. Fauci and the public health "experts" even said that the premise behind 'flatten the curve' was to spread out the dying so the hospital systems don't get overwhelmed. There's really not much left to be done at this point.

"Not much left to be done at this point"

I'm struggling to understand what your point is with this comment...well any of your comments really. Are you lamenting that the states were opened too early, not early enough?

TMB...Once again I must applaud your zest… But it reminds me of an old adage : “ If you could reason with reli...ous people there would be no reli...ous people”

Coronavirus: The number of Texans in hospitals hit record highs three days in a row

Quote

The number of people in Texas hospitals with COVID-19 hit an all-time high for the third straight day, raising alarms for public health experts who warn that a new surge of the virus could be coming.

As of Wednesday, 2,153 people are in the hospital with the disease, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. The number topped 2,000 for the first time Tuesday after reaching what was then a record high of 1,935 on Monday....

... On Wednesday, Abbott told a Lubbock television station he was “concerned but not alarmed” by the record high numbers.....

“That said, we have seen an all-time high today in the number of people that have been positive for COVID-19 in Texas. We also see record highs in the number of people hospitalized, so people need to realize, COVID-19 hasn't suddenly left the state of Texas, it still exists,” Abbott added.

I have family who have just driven their family from a rural western state to visit family just outside of Fort Worth. I worry that their busy lives with little exposure to the illness has precipitated a naive error in judgement.

As a lifelong Texan, I am against any more shut downs, even if we all get Coronavirus. Enough is enough! There is no benefit in annihilating our society and economy just to defer getting Corona for a few months at best.

I didn't vote Gov. Abbott back in 2018 but he's got my vote in 2022. He'll swiftly overturn any machinations that Mayor Turner and that Lena Hidalgo girl have at locking us up at home again.
