U of Calgary Degree Holder Winter 2015

Hello,

This is for anyone who has applied to the Degree Holder Route at U of C. I just wanted to let people know that if they have transcripts that still haven't been ordered from an Alberta Institution (through ApplyAlberta), give the admissions office a call (403-210-7625) and have them request it to be sent.

I was checking myuc everyday waiting to see if my transcript from Athabasca had been ordered and it still hadn't. I called admissions and the man told me he had to put a request for it to be ordered from Athabasca.... good thing I called or else they might not have ordered it in time for the Sept 30 deadline!

Hang in there StrawberryGarden!!!! I know waiting is the absolute worst.

Maybe to put your heart at ease.. my classes say 10 enrolled out of 120 spots, so that means they have not admitted the vast majority yet!

Every morning I wake up and check, hoping to see a green check mark by my status. My heart is starting to feel real heavy.

The thing is that no one has got any update yet, so "no news is good news". I myself check about 10 time a day lol.

Thanks again for sharing "insider" information Quartz. Do you by any chance know if the course is specifically for transfer and degree route or for all routes?

Thanks for the info quartz. I'm happy for you, you sound sweet, and I'm sure you'll make a great nurse. I emailed nursing, they're admitting students with a GPA of 3.5 and above. In a couple weeks, the 3.5 will go down, and maybe those ppl waiting will get some good news.

I am a bit confused at the whole process! My GPA is >3.8, why am I still waiting?

My pet theory (completely unsubstantiated) is that there are preferential admissions for people who completed their undergrad degree at U of C. Which I suppose makes sense, because their courses don't need to be evaluated for equivalency to the U of C system, so if their GPA is above the cutoff then it makes sense to admit them first.

I've also been told that there is sometimes quite a delay between the faculty decisions being made and statuses on the online portal being changed by admissions and enrolment. So if it is any solace to anyone waiting, perhaps the faculty has already decided to admit you, but admissions hasn't gotten around to changing your status yet!

Don't worry, be happy. We may all have been admitted already. Maybe the whole waiting process is a test.

That would make sense eeenfermera, because it would be very quick and easy for them to look at all my past grades and courses.

The courses say they are for the Degree holder and Transfer route students. There were 11/120 enrolled as of yesterday.

I am thinking any day now for all of you!! Oh I also got a letter in the mail shortly after my status changed on MyUofC, so make sure you check your mailboxes too!

My status changed to "Your application has been assessed and placed on a wait list until it can be determined if a position is available. You will be notified as early as possible." today. I'm surprised it filled up so quickly. Any one else get a status change? Congratulations to all who have been admitted though!

It's okay guys :) As long as the enrollment list hasn't been filled yet, the hope is still there!

Thanks for the update, Shwayze. My status has not been changed, hopefully this means that they are currently in the process of updating everyone's accounts? Mine still says "The Recruitment and Admissions Office has received sufficient documents to begin an evaluation of your application."

For what it's worth, I spoke to someone in admissions today and they said they are admitting people with a GPA of 3.7 and higher right now, then once they get all of them (space permitting), they will look at the wait list and lower the GPA in order to admit more. Hopefully the waiting will come to an end very soon for you all!
