TWU Weekend Program Spring 2010 in Dallas

U.S.A. Texas

Have been on several threads discussing various Spring 2010 students. This one is specifically for people in the weekend program to help share information about the program and what is going on with the process. I have been accepted and have confirmed with TWU. Waiting to hear about packet which has not arrived yet. Any and all welcome.

Just as note of interest... I talked to Dr. Sheriff the coordinator for the undergrad weekend program in Dallas. She said the Admissions office should send her the information about a week after the 23rd deadline. She will send the packets out sometime after that. She also mentioned an open house sometime in December that will be at night some time and will be talked about in the packet.:specs:

Well,I think the best way to get in touch with current student in the weekend program is to go down to dallas campus on friday;class starts by 5pm I believe and try to chat someone up.Thats what i'm planning to do ..I will update you guys if i find out anything.I believe Dec is too long to wait to speak to someone currently in the program. This is my opinion though>.......

I agree. I wont be able to go out there, but I appreciate your drive to find out more info. Thanks, chizzyann!

Hey Chizzyann, were you able to go on Friday?

Hey Plasma...no i couldn't.I didn't see myself getting back from dallas on time to pick up my daughter from daycare, considering all the construction going on around parkland and the horrible traffic.

Packets are supposed to go out next week. Does anyone know how the registration works for the weekend nursing program? Do you have to register for classes on the TWU website or are you automatically in the classes??

Received packet today... some ambiguity on background check....says go on -line then says will do it at orientation in December....gives no information as to are we signed up for classes or have to register like normal..... any thoughts....... also does not give what shots are needed although packet says it does...further no referece to cost, tuition, lab fees, other things will need for clinicals etc.... give thoughts

I had the same ambiguities in my packet. No information as to immunizations. The background check looks like you can do in advance of orientation or you can pay with a money order there and go online afterwards. It did say we will get more details at orientation on how to register (not that it helps much). I wonder how many of us are actually going to be in the class. Its good to know it starts 01/22/10 though.

Did you notice it doesnt look like we have sunday lab/clinic the first semester?

I noticed that too ... I was having a hard time understanding what that meant. looks like the 1st semester might be the easier off them all. It doesn't say whether pharmacology is on line or in class, which means we are only going to have 2 saturday labs for it and thats it?

there was an e-mail sent today with the immunizations which are needed. if anyone is looking for inexpensive immunizations you can try administration office: tarrant county public health main campus 1101 s. main street, fort worth, tx 76104 · 817-321-4700

i talked to a representative that you can get shots for $10/shot. if you need the hep b. they are able to do a combination of hep a and b that has a series of two or three shots within a 30 day period with a booster 1 year later. again $10 per shot.

if also appears that we register at the orientation. is that what others read?

Here is some information on Weekend program TWU Spring 2010 that was sent by Dallas personell....

The start date will be January 22 for the spring weekend program 2010.

-You will register for classes at orientation.

-You will need textbooks and will get this information at orientation.

-If you can pay by credit card, it is preferred to be done prior to orientation. If you need to pay with cash, you will need to come to the traditional program’s orientation at 10am on Friday, December 11. (This was asked about doing background checks prior to orientation)

-You will get the best idea of finances at orientation, as the weekend program varies from our traditional program. Uniforms will probably run between $50-$100, fees are included in the tuition and fee scale, textbooks could be about $500 depending on if you need to buy NCLEX books at the beginning or not, tuition estimates are listed on the TWU website…
