TWU Spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi!

I haven't seen a thread made for the TWU Spring 2018 application process, so decided to start one! I'm the type to worry, and I know I'm not alone, so what better place to vent than here? For anyone wondering, the application date for Spring 2018 is August 15th, 2017!

My GPA comes out to a 3.720 with TWU preference. I haven't taken my TEAs yet, but plan to soon.

How about y'all?

Is there a FB group for Dallas yet?

Nope! Can't create one without having a friend to add to the group! PM me!

I messaged you on fb! It wouldn't let me add you on FB or PM you on here!

How many months is the TWU-houston nursing program, versus the UTHealth - houston nursing program? I feel like I can't find any useful information on either of these programs that will help me decide which one I want to go to?

I got accepted to the Houston campus!! :) Huge congrats to everyone who got accepted, and even those who didn't - as previously mentioned, applying is no easy feat, so best wishes to you guys next time around!

I'm also one who's still waiting to hear back from UTHealth, and even though UTHealth was my first choice due to the shorter program, I'm definitely reconsidering due to all the insight given so far.

TWU is 24, and UT is 15. I'm not sure about how true this is, but I may have read somewhere that you can't shorten that 24 month duration at TWU (by taking more classes, etc.), even if you wanted to.

Pretty sure TWU Houston is 4 semesters (not including summers/ so 2 years) if it is the same set up as Dallas

What's her email? thanks in advance!

I emailed Ms. Cole and she let me know where I am on the list. #10

Check your inbox, I PMed it to you

Greetings, everyone! We just wanted to drop in with a few announcements.

Email notifications went out yesterday for the Dallas and Houston traditional nursing programs. The emails would have gone to the email address used to sign up for NursingCAS, so make sure to check your spam/junk folder if there's nothing in your inbox. If you haven't received anything at all, please contact the College of Nursing office at 940-898-2401.

In addition to being the largest applicant pool we've had, it's also been one of the most competitive. There were many qualified applicants, and unfortunately, there are only so many clinical placements available.

Preliminary stats/averages for Spring 2018 are the following:

Dallas (396 total applicants)

Lowest admitted score: 49.9

Avg. GPA: 3.75

Avg. TEAS: 86.9%

Houston (502 total applicants)

Lowest admitted score: 44.1

Avg. GPA: 3.72

Avg. TEAS: 87.2%

If you would like to discuss reasons why you were not admitted and what to do next time to be a more competitive applicant, we encourage you to visit us on the TWU Denton campus during Walk-In Wednesdays. The advisors take walk-in visits from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM every Wednesday. Please refrain from making an appointment (and if you've already made an appointment, please consider cancelling it) to help free up space for freshman advising. If you are not near the Denton campus, you are welcome to call during Walk-In Wednesday, and we will discuss your options with you over the phone.

Those of you who received an offer of admissions (congratulations!), please make sure to accept or decline your offer by Friday, October 20th at 5:00 PM CST. Once you've sent your confirmation form, there is nothing else to do until your campus contacts you. You will have orientation on December 8th, and that is when you will register for class and find out everything you need to know for your first semester.

Students who are on the waiting list received a notice that specifically said they were on the waitlist. If admitted students decline an offer of admission or fail to respond by the deadline, then those spaces will be offered to students on the waitlist. Notifications will be sent to waitlisted applicants by email.

Now that this application cycle is over, we are going to stop monitoring this thread. Please direct all questions and concerns to the College of Nursing office.

WC :)
