Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.
Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?
I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.
If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?
Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!
Hello Ladies! Ill be praying for you all-stay calm and cool:smokin:
As I remember she is flexible and not rigid on her time; as some people straggle in or have traffic/parking issues. Be sure to read her questions carefully as sometimes we tend to hurry when we are crunched for time; go at a nice steady pace, and skip the ones that stump you and come back to them. Also for those who like to go back and check work she advises NOT to change your ANSWERS, as your first inclination is usually correct! Maybe you all already know all these tips but I just wanted you to have these for tomorrow :)))))
Oh and dont stay up late cramming get a good night sleep too! (Such a mommy I am)
Thanks Supersweet. I was just thinking that if I don't know it by 9:00 tonight, then I better pray for osmosis and go to bed 'cause there's not much more I can do at that point. :) It's good to have you on this board as a voice of reason when we get freaked out about this class.
BTW, does anyone know if we make a C in this class (not that I'm shooting for that, but if it were to happen) does that go against us as far as that "have to keep a 78 average" rule I keep hearing about? I'm confused about all that, but since this technically isn't a Nursing course (it's biology) does it go against that?
Have any of you guys done the practice questions on the cd that came with our book? I am working my way through those now. I am assuming these questions are similar to the type of questions we will get.
At this point, I am just hoping I pass. I figure if I blow this first test, it won't be the end of the world. I know we keep saying it over and over, but it is just SO MUCH information. I had a long chat last night with a friend who just got his ADN a year or so ago. After the hour we spent talking, I am starting to get a little freaked. It sounds like nursing school will be intense, to say the least. I am glad we have already formed a little support group. My friend said that by the time we graduate, we will feel like sorority sisters. (He was one of the only guys in his nursing class.) :-)
I've heard the same thing, and being a mom (and all that entails) I'm sure will not make it much easier. I agree with you Elizabelle, if I blow this first test, it won't be the end of the world. I think I now know how to study for these tests, although it's probably too late for this test :) I'll keep up a little better with the next set of chapters, planning on doing two chapter a week (but haven't decided if I'm going to do them before she goes over them or after) by reading them and writing my own notes (based on hers). Then when it comes down to study time, I will just have to do the "cliff notes" version of what I've already gone through and work the cd and study guide questions. At least I hope that will be a good plan. Trying to accomplish it today, but I think I'm going to run out of time.
yes, i can tell there is not enough time today. I usually go to bed at 11:30, so if it's not in my head by 10:30, that's all I can do. I think I know how to study for the next test though, which is similar to what you said butterfly. do the chapters as she lectures them, so that its a "review" when studying time comes around. I have not made it to the CD yet, but have been doing the review guide questions. Most of them pertain to what we are doing, but some are the extra info we don't need to know.
I have not heard about the 78 average rule? What is that? I hope I don't even get close to that to worry about it lol.
Yes, I've heard that if you're a straight A student, kiss it goodbye in Nursing School 'cause you'll do everything you possibly can just to eek out a B. The 78 rule I've heard of (and I'm not sure that it was at TWU or not) is that you are not considered passing if you have less than an average of 78 in a class. I don't know if it's the case at TWU or not, I heard it somewhere and don't know if it applies at TWU.

OK, I'm just going to say it. Chpt 17 sux. I'm so done with Neuro. arrgggghhhhh... I now only have chpt 18 to finish. Thank goodness.
btw, goopsy and elizabelle, have you noticed that there are things in her notes that are not in the book. Like Parkinson's and Huntington's is not under degenerative diseases in chpt 17, but they are in her notes. There are some other little things that I've noticed like that too.
