Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.
Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?
I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.
If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?
Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!
Ok, Elizabelle and Goopsy, I'm trying to make my way through chpt 15 and her notes include things that the book doesn't and of course the book includes WAY more than her notes and are not in the same order. Am I losing it or what? I'm trying to use her notes and add to them my own take on what the book says, but I can't even find some of the stuff that she's included. I can tell this is going to be fun. Although I have the book and the CD that came with it, I might end of investing in the Pathophysiology online course for $59.95. Might be worth it. Are either of you having trouble just trying to get started?
I've been studying all morning. I am reading the book, but not every word; I am focusing mainly on the parts that she touched on in her notes. If what she said in class is true, then there shouldn't be too much on the test that she didn't at least touch on in class. I am making vocab flashcards as I go. At the end of each chapter, I do the practice questions in the study guide. Once I am done doing that for each of the 5 chapters, I will pop the cd that came with the book into my laptop and do any practice questions there, and look at any additional review material that seems pertinent. That is my strategy! Hopefully it works! I am doing one chapter a day in depth all this week, so that this weekend I can just review. Hopefully that way the information will actually sink in. Good luck! (and don't forget this is multiple choice - you have a 25% chance of a lucky guess, even if you have no clue!)
Thanks for all the support! I was having a hard time too. That's a great idea about reading a chapter a day to have this weekend to review! That's what I will do too.
My friend who took it this summer said that there was not too much extra from the book but there were some questions here and there. She did not buy the book, but she said she should have. She barely pulled a 80, which is unusual for her because she has all A's except for some B's here and there.
Another friend of mine said she is hard but awesome because you will need this stuff.
Come Monday, we will be good! Don't stress. Also, it looks like the sun might come out today; yay!
OK, I'm sick of receiving these pain in the backside emails from TWU for music recitals and art exhibits. They are driving me crazy 'cause every time I go into my mailbox there's something there from TWU and I think it's from the nursing department. I'd stop looking, but we all know I can't :)
Back to studying.
HA! Yesterday I almost had a heart attack, because I went out to check the mail, and there was a letter from TWU. My heart skipped a beat, then I remembered I had ordered a parking decal. Sure enough, that's all it was. Doh!
Also, I have spent HOURS studying for Patho so far, and am not making it through the chapters as quickly as I had hoped. I wanted to try to do a chapter a day, and I HAVE spent significant time studying every day, but I am still in Chap. 15. Aaaargh. There is just SO MUCH info, it is hard to filter thru and pick out what she might test us on. I am trying to follow her instructions and not get too bogged down in the anatomy, but just focus on the pathology. It is still a TON of material. I have a party Sat. night that I want to feel good about going to, and I have to get through this stuff before then, or I will feel guilty for taking the time out to go, when I could have been studying. Bleh. I guess this is what I get for not cracking my book open at all Labor Day week. :-)
Hi Kimmy0888...not sure if you'll get this, but I saw that you have a copy of the West Coat University HESI A2 study guide downloaded. If you have a chance, would you mind sending it to me? I can't PM yet, but my email is emma33603 at yahoo dot com. Thank you so much...I take my HESI A2 this weekend and have started to get a little nervous about it!!!!
Elizabelle, I'm right there with you. I sure hope that these chapters are some of the more difficult to get my brain around (the nervous system always gave me problems because it wasn't necessarily something I could get my hands on as far as function). I skipped chapter 14, have completed studying for chpt. 15 and am at the beginning of chpt 16. I feel like I'm falling behind because it's taking me too much time to get through them too. I think I've decided on a new strategy for after this first test. I'll take a chapter every 2 days and dissect it BEFORE she goes over it in class. That way I'll at least get the understanding of it twice. It seems like her lectures were so long ago and so fast that they really didn't provide much toward my studying. Oh well, back to it.
yah I agree with you guys. I'm still on chapter 15 as well. It is taking a long time. Last night, I had a nightmare that I got a letter from TWU, but everytime I tried to read it, something would happen-like one time this massive bird flew in and took it before I could read it, and another time, I couldn't read any faster than slow motion and couldn't get passed the first sentence. So I never knew if it was an acceptance or rejection.
I am so glad we are taking this class now instead of during the 1st semester!
