Hello everyone just wanted to see if there were anymore hopeful spring 2009 applicants out there. I submitted my application already and just sitting back waiting till Nov when acceptance/rejection letters are sent out. I know they said for us to check out emails everyday in October. If anyone has been through the application process before please share your experience. Good luck to everyone :wink2:
I don't mind sharing - i did all of my pre-reqs at TWU so i got the .4 added to my GPA - originally it was a 3.609 so with the .4 it was 4.0. My net was 64% for the reading comprehension. (I am awful at standardized tests, in my opinion) My net score is what had me concerned about getting accepted- knowing many others scored much higher. BUT your GPA counts for 80% and net 20% from what i am told. I guessing you applied for the Houston program?
Wow, congrats about getting in!!! I'm relieved there is a place I can discuss this with others. The suspense is killing me. I was trying to squeeze out any information possible at the Houston orientation. They said the pool of applicants increases and decreases kind of with the state of the economy (not a scientific study, of course). I'm just hoping that I have a chance...
When I talked to the lady who e-mailed me about my transcripts, she said there were many people who are having transcript issues this application period. Apparently the Denton campus is running behind with updating student records.
I'm currently a student at Lonestar Community College, and I know one other student from there who is also applying. I'm curious to find out about more people who are trying to get into the Houston campus.

My net score was not the greatest either. I don't like that they only look at the reading. My math score was fantastic.

thanks a bunch for sharing. yes, i applied for the houston program. hopefully my 3.86 gpa will make it for houston. my net reading score wasn't that great either, got 69. feeling extremely anxious at this point.
If only I could have had .4 added to my GPA...
ugh, I wish nursing programs weren't so extremely competitive. Then again, at the orientation they were saying that every year they get students with 3.8 and 3.9 GPA's that can't make it through the first semester. My theory is that some people end up with personal issues (pregnancy, divorce, death of family member etc..) that probably interfere with their studies. Who knows.
I see a lot of nurses that don't seem to know a lot of the things that we are taught now. I guess it wasn't so competitive 20 years ago....??
**I'm going back to waiting for the mail...
TWU is the only school I applied for Spring '09. If it doesn't work out, my plan is to work on my GPA and my NET score.
There are more programs in the Houston area that accept fall applicants, so I will apply for every program I can. If I'm still having trouble, then I'll find something less competitive to go into. I hate sounding defeated, but I need to start making money somehow. I don't get it....the students here are smart and competitive, but this is such a difficult career to get into.
Becoming a nurse seems almost as competitive as becoming a doctor.

They tell everyone that - even at the Denton campus. I would think they sent them all out at the same time..... Good luck - i will be praying for all of us!
