TWU Spring 2010 Houston Regular Program

Published

I think it is time we get our own thread for those of us who have been accepted to TWU's Houston program and plan to attend. :D

Hi everyone, I am in the process of applying for TWU nursing program for the fall 2010. Just curious if anyone would mind sharing their GPA's, HESI A2 scores, etc. I have not taken the HESI yet. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to study for it? I have been out of school now for 5 years so I am a little nervous. I took the NET a couple of weeks ago. Is it similar to the NET? Thanks in advance for your help! Congratulations and good luck!

Hi LPSJones!.I don't mind sharing my stats.I applied as a transfer student with a 4.0 GPA Overall and a composite HESI of 88%. I liked the Hesi much better than the NET because you are given 4 hours to complete to entire exams;you aren't timed individually for each section like the NET exam.

Here is more information about the exam:

Also you are going to be covers all sections i would DEFINITELY recommend the Evolve Reach Hesi admission assessment exam book and setting aside maybe 2-3 hrs each day for 3-4 weeks maybe.Make sure you know how your metric system conversions and know how to solve basic math applications which is mostly covered in the study guide and work through it, that's all you really need.

Here is a link to the book:

P.S you are only allowed to take the Hesi exam once for each application cycle,so make sure you do well the first attempt.I hope this helps!=]

Thank you so much for sharing! Your GPA is awesome! My overall is a 3.62, nursing prereq I have already ordered the Evolve book, so I guess I am on the right track. How were the science sections on the test? Did the study guide help you review good enough for those sections? Also, was the vocabulary section difficult? I am a middle school math teacher so I feel pretty confident that I will do well with the math. Just worried about the other sections. Thanks for you help!

ooopss...I accidently submitted the message while I was typing...my nursing prereq GPA is a 3.76, and my science GPA is a 3.0. I hold a BS degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, I am also a Licenced Paramedic. I hope that my GPA is good enough to get in.

That's great you have the book! I'm sure you will do perfect on the math portion! It's pretty straight forward basic math add, sub, div stuff.Well,The exam will have more questions on the math, reading comp, and grammar section. Each section had about 55-60 questions. The book doesn't go that deep into the biology,A&P, and chemistry section, but as long as ur already studying for those classes, you should pretty much be prepared for the A&P,Biol, and chemistry section, but I would still recommend looking over the overview. These sections don't go into deep detail and each section only has 25 questions, so it's pretty decent. The good thing about the Hesi is that you can spend more time on the sections your worried about.

Ariz...After I took my test I never heard back, but they told me that they would call if they needed to clarify meds you are taking or if you failed...so no news is good news.

okii thankss lcap and mau, see yall Dec 11thhhhhhhh

NP ariz88! I can't believe orientation is already next friday!Boy does time fly! I hope everyone is pretty much done with all the forms and have faxed their immunization forms! I faxed my form today and did my fingerprinting, and hopefully TWU has my drug test by now since everything is due by this Friday.

Well guys I just found out I need to get a titer and another injection to complete my immunization form! I thought I was done, but apparently I'm not.Anyone recommend any doctors? I hope we don't have to have our chart complete by orientation, that's what I'm nervous about.

what else do you need a titer of? I thought it was just vercella and hep b? Is there something else we need?

I need a Varicella Titer and a Tdap booster shot because I only took the regular TD shot before.I'm done with my Heb B shots, but I guess they need to it make sure I had to chickenpox.I took a shot or something after I was younger for the Varicella after I had it,but I guess it isn't used anymore so I have to get a titer now.

hey I know someone was talking about what kind of watch we need...where did you see it?

"mau" i guess that you are asking about vericella titer, i have one vaccination shot for that one in 2007 and before submitting my forms i took second one. i did not get any kind of titration as my dr recommended me its safe to take shots as we will be on high risk to catch those diseases. if you do not have any allergic reaction to vaccine then its better to go ahead and take those shots which will require 30 days gap.

here is a place which can give you shot any time.
