TWU Spring 2020 Hopefuls?

Updated:   Published

Hey! I'm applying to TWU for Spring of 2020. It's super early, but apps are due this Summer. Anyone else applying? I'm super nervous and I'd love to hear what everyone is doing to prepare for the TEAS! Also if anyone knows how many points are considered competitive let me know!

Did you get accepted for Fall or Spring? I live in Houston so I am biased but we do have one of the most renowned Med Centers!

Thanks guys ? I think I applied for spring lol. I honestly don't remember but I'm 90% sure it was for Spring.

Update: I just checked the acceptance letter and it says for Spring 2020. Also, I just read on the website that my acceptance lasts for up to one year before I have to reapply, so I may or may not apply for the nursing school until the Fall 2020 semester. I'm also applying to UTMB (my number one choice) and Sam Houston State so I'm a little indecisive.

Oh wow I didnt realize they sent acceptances so early since the application deadline isn't until August 15! Have you already completed your first two years prereqs? UTMB and SHSU are also great schools, it's awesome that TWU allows you to defer enrollment because then you can keep your options open!

Application for TWU, NOT the nursing school lol. I had to apply there first before applying for the nursing program. I just finished filling the nursing school application out, I just need to turn it in but I don't know which campus to pick.

I already finished all of my prereqs for the program at Central Texas College, except for the Multicultural Women's Studies class. And yes it is awesome that they do that, all I would have to do is put in a request to change my start date. I wish more schools would do something like this for indecisive people like me lol

Ohhhhhh ok I was so confused thinking you meant the nursing program! How long did it take for you to hear back for just the TWU application? Do you have family in either city? I don't know alot about Dallas but there are a ton of hospital systems here in the Texas Medical Center and the TWU Houston campus is in the Med Center so you would have classes in the heart of everything!

It took less than a month until I heard back but I feel like the nursing school apps will take twice as long. And my whole family is located in CenTex or out of state. I just turned 20 recently and I've never left home before. I live in Killeen which is a mid-sized city and it's not overwhelming, so when I mentioned Houston and Dallas, my parents FLIPPED OUT on me because I'm their youngest and they're super overprotective ?. TWU was recommended to me by a lot of people, but not gonna lie, their locations freak me out a little. But then again, who wouldn't want to work in the Med Center or the SW Med District? That's why I asked about the environments in both cities. Asking locals who live in the area is more effective to me than to go there and just look around if that makes any sense. But like I said earlier I might until the Fall 2020 semester to apply and just stick with UTMB and SHSU for now, since their locations and environments are similar to where I'm at now. I'm sorry that this response was super long lol

No worries about the long post! I know exactly where Killeen is, have you thought about A&Ms program in College Station? It's a tad closer if you are wanting to be closer to home! Also you should note that SHSUs nursing program moved to The Woodlands for the last two years of the program, it isn't in Huntsville anymore! It may seem scary, but moving to a bigger city can be really exciting and a great life experience!

Hello! So I just wanted to verify TWU Nursing program is two years long because it includes the summer? I plan on applying to the Houston campus so is it the same for all campuses? Thank you in advanced!

This is a question I have on my list to ask during my advising appointment next month. I'm curious if the program can be accelerated since they offer online courses and summer courses. I'd ideally like to be done with my program in 16 months!

Yea the fact that it’s two years is what has me hesitating to apply but if there is a way to finish faster I’d love to do that. Please let me know what they say!! I may also send an email and see if I can get a response like that

The program is 2yr long. The traditional Program you have summers off. So you only attend during fall and spring. TWU does not offer an accelerated program.

Hey, guys, I'm really confused on how to study for the teas, especially the science section, should I study the chemistry stuff like strong or weak acids, chemical reactions, and other stuff.

Has anyone applied for TWU through NursingCAS yet? I'm waiting for acceptance for the traditional TWU application, but wondering how much the NursingCAS application is since I just paid $50 for the ApplyTexas TWU application. These application fees are adding up!! ?
