TWU Spring 2013 Applicants!

Hello!:yeah:

I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?

After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.

So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!

I'm applying to the Dallas campus for Spring 2013. I'm a second degree student and I have taken most of my nursing prereqs at DCCCD. I am currently taking Microbiology and will take Chemistry and Nutrition during summer school. I want to take the TEAS V as soon as I'm done with Chemistry this summer so that it's fresh in my mind. My acceptance to TWU general undergrad college was confirmed this week and I have a telephone advisement scheduled so that I can be cleared to take pathophysiology this fall. I'm numb now from the process. I also applied to the El Centro College ADN program, but after attending the TWU info session a couple of weeks ago, I want the B.S.N.

Your score 79 is pretty close to 80. So thats good. They say to get above 80 to be competitive but I think you will be fine. What is your GPA?

Thank you. :) Its hard seeing people who have TEAS scores 1 or 2 points above mine who got in and my GPA. But hopefully this time will be it. I just need to study and take that TEAS again. Good luck to you!!

I'm a second degree student as well applying to TWU for the spring 2013. I've also been taking my prereqs from DCCCD and TVCC. Do you know if they have anymore of the informational meetings? I'm finishing up my general app to TWU this week, so hopefully I can take patho in the fall as well. How long did it take to be accepted into TWU generally once they received your transcripts?

I applied in November through the Texas Online application process. TWU sent me several reminders to send in my transcripts, but I was still undecided. They also assigned me a student number and provided me with access to the Pioneer Portal before receiving my transcripts. When I finally did send my transcripts to Denton last week, I only had to check Pioneer Portal to see that one day later the transcripts were under review and two days later the status was "accepted." Then I called the nursing department to schedule my advisement with Dr. Stankus.

@ kmlnielsen regarding other info sessions; check the TWU nursing page. Go to the actual location such as Dallas, Houston, etc. and it will tell you when the next session is scheduled. The one I went to was scheduled during TWU's Spring break so that we could tour the facilities. The next may not be until there's another break between semesters. Hope this helps.

I'm hoping to apply for Spr '13 Dallas. my spring schedule now is a&p I, chemistry, nutrition, and stats. for summer I need to finish up with micro, and a&p II and gov. For the fall I'm planning on taking pathophys on campus. and the remainder two classes I need. I plan to take the Teas V in August before the Sept. 1 deadline after my summerload. We can only take the exam once per application period right? does anyone know how long it takes to process results for the TEAS?

Im doing good in my spring classes mostly A's, but can come someone tell me if im steering in the wrongdirection or is anyone else doing a crazy class load and is surviving! :(

They actually have an informational meeting coming up in May - I believe it's May 18th. I don't know what time, but last time it was 10am-12pm so I'm guessing it'll probably be the same. When I find out more I'll let you know :)

Also, I was accepted to TWU-Denton about 3 weeks after I sent them my application and transcripts. It may have even been slightly sooner than that, but I remember it didn't take long at all!

Hi! Your class load sounds pretty spot on...I know several people who are taking micro and their 2nd A&P in the summer, and most of them will be taking the TEAS in August as well. And yeah, we can only take the exam once per application period. My advisor told me that it takes a couple of days to receive/process the TEAS score. You sound like you know what you're doing ;) I wouldn't worry, just concentrate on schoolwork. Good luck! :D

You are steering in the right direction, but be careful with those summer classes, at my school they don't offer Micro in the Summer only Anatomy. So you might want to check that out before applying to TWU and wasting your money on the TEAS quite yet.

And yes, you may only take the TEAS once per application period. Make sure you STUDY for th TEAS! The science part is the most challenging, because you never know what will be on there. The TEAS only takes a few days to process.

hey guys, i am applying to the twu nursing program in houston for spring 2013. have any of you applied to the nursing program for spring 2013 yet? i have tried to apply but when i went to pioneer portal to apply it said "applications for the college of nursing classes are no longer being accepted. please check back later". i have already applied to twu main campus and have been accepted. is it still too early to apply to the spring 2013?

My guess would be that it's just too early to be applying for the Spring 2013 semester. They probably won't open the application until the end of this semester, which is in 4 weeks. Try again then! :lol2:
