TWU NPs or RN-MS students networking?

I just finished adv patho online for my RN-MS. Now I'm registering for online leadership & mgmt. I've been searching for a thread or facebook page where online TWU NP and RN-MS students share experiences, advice, wisdom, support, etc. the way everyone easily does on campus. Online classes are great except for the isolation! So does anyone know where TWU NP students network? If not, let's make a place and spread the word!

Hey OBTXRN,

That is true, Patho and Theory is paired together. Will you going to the Dallas Camus? For Patho, I would recommend reading her notes and answering the questions in the study guide. Don't freak out, you will do fine. The professor is very nice. Goodluck =).

Follow the example she buried in the syllabus (except u should make paragraphs even though they're not in the example!!!)I don't think she's a hard grader, but I can't really tell. I only got back 2 grades, the midterm and the DB participation (my DB comments were essays in themselves, but I didn't always post all 3). She emailed us that our first PP was fantastic, but nothing about the 2nd one (which I thought wasn't as good). The most difficult thing was finding research articles that directly addressed the exam questions, then cramming all the info into a one page answer. Make sure u get to the cellular or molecular level if required. I had trouble getting info for one question on each exam, but still somehow came out with an A. Helps a lot if u know your way around RefWorks, Google Scholar, TWU library, and TMC library.

U mean when I took adv pharm? Required text:McPhee, S.J. & Hammer, G.D. (2010). Pathophysiology of Disease: An Introduction to Clinical Medicine (5th. ed.) I hardly used it. It wasn't indepth enough for most of the assignments, so I did a lot of research for articles and e-books as I mentioned earlier. Right now I'm finishing Leadership and Management and I really didn't need the text for it either, just the online powerpoints and more library research.

You can do it! It's the easy part. Look back at the PP presentations and the chapters you've covered. Ours was in there! Then you can research articles for the essay.

Anybody taken 5024 Research and Qual. Imp. Nsg. (esp.at the Dallas Campus) ?? Would you mind describing the assignments, time commitment, grading, difficulty, etc. I need to decide whether to take this class alone or with Intro to Bacc. I work 40 hr/wk, commute 10+ hr/wk and have 2 kids. Any information will be appreciated. I'd love to see the syllabus. TIA!

I need help, has anyone taken Theory online at TWU? How do you prepare for Quizzes, the blueprint that we were given is so confusing and the quiz is only like 12 questions? Any advice on how to pass this class will be helpful. I should have taken this class on campus! @3wishes and anyone else who can help!

Sorry I'm no help, I won't have Theory until Fall '16 I guess. These undergrad courses are taking forever. I'm burned out with APA discussion posts and essays and reports and I have 5 more classes after this to finish the undergrad part of RN-MSN. I would love to just take some quizzes (without confusing blueprints of course). I wonder if there is less writing in the on campus courses.

Are you FNP? What semester? What does your degree plan look like?

What courses did you have in the Fall and Spring? I can't find anyone to discuss this program with! I'd be happy to tell you about 5024 Research. Google an old syllabus from 2013 online. What changed for us is that the final PICOT project is worth 35% instead of 20%, and the weekly DB with 2 replies are only worth 25% instead of 50%. I can send you the syllabus if you can send/receive messages on here. It was intense, but I was able to get an A taking it alone and working 45+ hr weeks. Did you take RN w Fam/Groups and Comm. Health at TWU? These 2 together are killing me with all the writing and I'm not even working right now. About 5+ pages a week in APA. I'm constantly behind and my kids feel ignored. I'm afraid High Acuity and Intro to Bacc this summer will be the same way. Did you take those at TWU?

Thanks for responding 3wishes. In the Fall I took Pharmacology and now I am taking Theory and Advanced practice roles. I did my undergrad and UTA. Are you doing the RN-MSN program because your classes that you are taking now don't sound familiar. I don't think I have posted enough to receive private messages on here.
