I could not for the life of me find a thread for people who were going to be going to Houston in the fall, so here we go.
I was going out for the fast track 2009 in Dallas, got denied and put back in the fall applicant pool, then BAM:D, got hit with the shocker last night when I got home from work that I had been accepted to the regular BSN program in Houston.
I'm really excited to start a new chapter and I thought this would be a good way to meet other members of the class before we get there. So shout out where you're from and your background so we can all get to know each other before August!
(P.S.- I've also been accepted to the community college in my hometown, which is closer, cheaper, and probably going to be easier, but I think it would be borderline offensive to turn down such an awesome offer, let me know what you think)
Hey! I was thinking and would ya'll be up for living in apartments that are like 20 minutes away..My sister use to live Webster, which is only like 20 - 25 minutes away and she gave me a name of this really nice / inexpensive apartment that's located in great area...Let me know..if not..I'll continue to look near medical drive..Its just an idea..
Hi classmates, I see that I have missed a lot. Thank you so much littlerae26 for giving us some heads up. I have printed off the book list you recommended and will be searching for prices. How is everyone else been doing? I have been trying to get my shots in order. I got my first varicella shot and had a very bad reaction to it. Then I found out all we needed was the titer. AGHHH!! Oh well, I am going on Monday to get it done. So right now I am faxing my form. Then my doctor will send my results, when the come in, to the Denton office. I am glad I called the main campus. I would have missed that requirement.
hii... ok this is important! lol.. me and my bf went lookin at apts. i found three that are maybe less then five mins away from twu.. off fannin.. reall nice locations. just to let you guys know, they have waiting lists.. ans the earlier everryone decides the better chance we have. ok so i went to greenbriar apt.. gated comm. the two bedroom two bath starts at 1310 or somethin.. there were no model apts.. then right next to it was laneborough..
I LOVED ITTTTTTTTTT!! ok so its gated and its a 528 unit apt! its huge.. you get your own gate opener like a house garage opener and it includes washer and dryer.. now i looked at the two bedroom two bath,.. and one bedroom one bath.. as well two bedroom two bath is 1200 aprox. they pay for trash, we pay light, water. BUT it has a security alarm for each apt.. which makes it much more secure. now this place is only a 12 month lease. this place was really upscale for a nice price, i saw alot of doctors..
3rd place i saw was archstone, its right infront of reliant stadium, that place has a shuttle service thats take us to school.. now this apt for 2 bedroom one bath was 830-920 and two bed and two bath was 920-1030.. it didnt really look as secure as lanesborough did.
some info i found out was that we have to get homeowners insurance or whatever, its like 30 a month, and there is a application fee, administration fee, plus deposit in all of them,...
i wanna get into lanesborough, cause for a girl it just looked alot safer.. and the light rail is right infront of them as well. now as far as me.. i talked to my mom, im sorry murse.. my mom is really religous and stuff so i cant room with a guy. however if any one wants to room with me please lemme know.. cause i wanna get on the waiting list ASAP.. now i wont be living there all two years.. ima be going back home end of junior year and movin back hopefully aug of senior year if the place was well. i dont wanna spend 1800 during summer when i can be saving that while staying at home.
please lemme know if one of your guys have the same idea, cause if we pay for half, and i leave in may, i dont want to hold you reliable for paying all of the rent the three months im not there, unless you will be leaving for the summer as well
hey ruchita33, for the lanesborough, you said they only sign for 12 months.... if you move in August, you have to move out August the next year to fulfill the 12 months, unless you want to move in May.

yea i know, but see my boyfriend owns apts and leases them to people. none around medcenter.. lol i wish.. but i told him the same thing, but he said honestly the apt people wont let a lease go just for two months.. i mean we would have to mention it to them, like i would have him do all the talking, but i mean we stay there for 10 months, im pretty sure they might negotiate two months. but its basically a trial and error, cause i cant ask them until i have someone to room with me, cause lets say they agree, but if i dont have another person to room with me, then they might never negotiate again.. and plus if i like the apts im willing to come bak in aug, ill give them that guarantee
the apt was so nice, and peaceful like extra.. lol she said that 80 percent are students, interns and doctors, so its not loud or anything.. but my uncle works for city of houston, ima get him to give me a crime rate on that area.
my uncle emailed that to me, he said for the med center zip there are not alot of resident area so he cant find a crime rate, however that link is to the crime rate in downtown, but if you clik on the month and search FANNIN, you can find a couple on fannin..but doesnt say where
