TWU FNP Fall 2023

Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone applies for Fall 2023 FNP program at TWU. I am still waiting to hear back from the Admission office since my status said "awaiting department review". I just want to form a group so we can share our journey and help each other in the future. I appreciate your input!

Same. The advisor I spoke to at the beginning of the month didn't have a timeline to tell me hence I accepted my seat at UTA. It starts next week but I was hoping TWU would respond by now since it's a semester shorter and bit cheaper. What program did you accept?

UT Tyler. And the whole admission process has been great with them. I knew within 7 business days that I was accepted. TWU still has the same recording when you call about the email being down and the advisor that I had my phone appointment with before I applied acted like she was reading a script and didn't want to be answering questions about the program. 
 

The advisor at UT Tyler set up a Skype appointment with me and stayed on for over 30 min telling me about the program and answering questions. I couldn't even reach the advisors for TWU nor did they ever return my phone calls. 
 

Their program may be good I don't know anything about it but the process is pretty ridiculous!

That's strange I had the complete opposite experience. I've had someone in touch with me every step of the way and frequently communicate with one of the advisors (However I'm applying for the 2024 online FNP program and every program has different advisors I've noticed). I'm sorry you had such a poor experience but congrats on getting in at UT Tyler! What was the process like for applying? Any interviews requried? I might consider them.

I'm assuming no one has heard back since mid April.  I haven't heard of anyone getting their acceptance since then. I did call the recruiter last week, and they said that they would notify all applicants once the fall semester is filled.  I wish they would just post the dates that they review applications, so that we wouldn't be constantly checking.  Good luck to everyone applying!

don't lose your hope yet yall. my acceptance letter came in vey unexpectedly. After a long and tiring day at work, I went home, check my email and there it is.

You just received acceptance this week? When did you apply?? Also any chance I could private message you in regards to your stats? I have so much anxiety surrounding my chances of getting in...

I emailed my admission counselor yesterday. He said TWU had a lot of decisions left to make for the fall semester including faculty and that my application was still pending. He wouldn't provide me a date for which applicants would be notified by. Due to this, I will start the other program Monday and if I get accepted into TWU I may perhaps transfer. I don't think it's smart to lose my other seat since TWU is not up to speed.

I applied in March, and I was just like you, anxiously checking my email everyday and then exactly one month later, they sent me the acceptance and background check emails. My advisor is (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME PER TOS), he's actually pretty responsive and follow up with me on everything. If you needs his information, I can share it with you. I don't mind sharing my stats also, my GPA is 3.8, and I have been a nurse for 8 years, mostly ICU.

How do you all like the PMHNP at TWU? Work/life balance?

I don't think TWU offers PMHNP programs.This group is for FNP program and we haven't started the program yet so we are not sure ? but I heard good things about TWU from my coworkers compared to UTA.

(MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME PER TOS) is who I've been in touch with too, he's super responsive and very helpful! I have one more transcript to be sent and then after that I'm hoping to hear back by the end of August (I'm applying Spring '24). My BSN GPA is 3.8 but my last 60 hours GPA is only a 3.4 so that is making me a little anxious. ? Thank you for sharing, I appreciate it!

They do have a PMHNP program but I'm not sure I've seen any threads about it on here

I believe they consider the total average GPA. Also, before applying, I asked him if he believed I had a chance in the program based on my stats, and he said of course, otherwise he wouldn't urge me to apply. So, as long as you "pass" his interview, I believe you have a shot. I know the waiting game sucks though!
