TWU Fast Track-Practical Info, Please!

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi, y'all! I'm applying to the TWU program in January and wondered if any of you who have been through it could give me some practical information about it.

Do you attend school 8-5 M-F or is it more like a regular college schedule where you have certain classes that meet at certain times and then you go home and study? What should I expect? The website is great at answering most questions, but it totally misses the boat on practical information!

I'm just trying to get an idea so I can begin to think about childcare, husband care :loveya:, part-time job, etc. Any info you can give me would be appreciated!

Thanks for the encouraging words. I just feel so down and depressed right now. It's soooooo competitive to get into nursing school. I just feel like I won't get in anywhere. I made a 88 on the NET but my reading brung me down. My plan is to apply to like 10 schools in the fall if I don't get in anywhere in the spring.

Do either of you know if the Chemistry they require as a prereq is General Chemistry or Intro???

My C is in General Chemistry, but I'm thinking I might be able to get away with Intro...But I've gotten no response back from Janice Anderson on that, and I need to get an answer quickly so I can change to an easier class if that's possible!

I took intro to Chemistry at DCCCD, and it counted! There should be a list somewhere on the college of nursing website that gives the equivalents of different community college courses and if they match up to TWU requirements.

It's any college level chemistry course with lab

I searched all over the place for this very thing, but it just says "Chemistry with Lab."

But it would suuuuure help me if I could take the watered down version. I'm about to stress myself out completely on this whole General Chem thing.

Look what I found in my computer! Who knows if it will still be applicable, but I'm sure it is...

You are about 19 kinds of awesome.

Welcome to the crazy world of nursing school!

no kidding. i've been slowly picking off pre-reqs for the last two years getting ready to apply for the 09 fast track, my gpa will be a 4.0, and i made in the mid-90s on the NET, but i'm still thinking i might need a backup plan because of the .4 GPA boost TWU students get. i couldn't fit TWU classes into my schedule with work, so i had to go to DCCCD. so, even with a 4.0, i don't feel very competitive. (how crazy is that?) agh! i've never been this stressed about anything, and there're still 4 or 5 months to go.

I'm so glad someone started this thread! I'm hoping for the same prgram & crazy me I already got a masters degree! (MSW). My GPA is great (summa cum laude at grad school, a couple of Bs in undergrad). However, at the risk of sounding stupid, what on earth is a "NET". I never heard of that. Also, what type of clinicals will there be--I imagine there will be hospital rotations, but what else? Thanks!

Might want to check out this thread:

Consult the website for info about the NET. You have to take it before Feb. 1, I believe. And not all of your grades count...Just certain classes.

Only classes that count are the preqres TWU requires. They don't look at anything else
