TWU Fall 2012 Weekend Program & Traditional

Published

Hello all!

I am currently in the process of applying to TWU's weekend program for Fall 2012 and I just wanted to start a new thread for any prospective TWU nursing students as well as current students!

For those of you who don't know, TWU has a weekend program for students with a previous bachelor degree in another field. From what I understand, if you are not selected for the weekend program, they will automatically consider you for the traditional program as well.

The minimum GPA requirement is 3.0 with the TEAS V entrance exam also required in order to apply..and of course you also have to complete the required pre-requisite courses.

Here is a link to the program for more information: http://www.twu.edu/nursing/weekend-program.asp

If anyone else has any more detailed information regarding this program, your input is certainly welcome. I hope this thread is helpful for anyone considering nursing school at TWU. :)

I was so relieved when I had finished. I had to take the HESI and the TEAS. I took one on December 22 and the other on December 30. My Christmas holidays were spent tucked in my room studying! I hope I never have to take another entrance exam as long as I live! :D

LOL, same here! I took the HESI right after finals then began preparing for the TEAS & applying to nursing schools; pretty much sums up my Christmas break. We are just dedicated pre-nursing students! Lol, soon about to receive our initial title as a nursing student.

Also, where did u apply to for the HESI?

LiveLaughLoveLearn,

I took the HESI for UTHSC Houston. I applied to three schools trying to keep my options open! Honestly I just want to be a nurse and whoever will grant me that opportunity I will do my best to represent that institution to the best of my ability. I am so ready to get this started!

I feel the exact same! I applied to four hopefully I will get in somewhere CLOSE to Dallas; but my main target is TWU. So did you do your pre-req's at TWU Houston or you are a transfer?

I am a transfer student, I completed all my pre-reqs at a community college! But I took one extra course to satisfy an AS degree so at least I don't have to take the extra courses because I'm core complete. That is if I get accepted to TWU!

Well you are ready to roll!

@ktdidit: I tried to apply for financial aid but the FA advisor told me that nothing will be processed until the student's taxes are done and tax season is just starting.

Actually, some of the forms just appeared on the website last week, it's "still early".

Where did you take your pre reqs?

DFWgal,

I took my pre-reqs at Lone Star College in Kingwood. Thanks for the heads up on the financial aid! I hope there is enough to go around for everyone!

Hey there! I am thinking about applying for the TWU nursing program in Dallas for Fall of 2013. Since it is for people who already have bachelor's degrees, does anyone know if you can still receive financial aid from the school? I know that once you have a bachelor's degree you no longer receive grants, but I was just wondering if anyone knew if you could still get other financial aid from the school or not?

Also, I wanted to go there to visit the campus but there's nowhere to park around there! Thanks and good luck to everyone who applied for Fall 2012!

Hi broonie717! I am not sure where you park without a decal, but the first couple levels of the new TWU parking garage are open and there are two other remote parking areas. I would call the Dalllas campus student life you can find the number on the school's site. They are really helpful and will be able to tell you where you can park and may have that information about loans. Hope this helps!

How is everyone doing dealing with the anxiety? I'm feeling a bit better after speaking with the College of Nursing advisor this morning. She was basically saying that yes there were lots of applicants, 880, but it is around the usual. She said we need to keep in mind that 100's of those applicants will be ineligible to apply due to not taking the TEAS, not meeting GPA requirement, etc..

So good luck everyone! She also informed me that we will find out around the end of March
