TWU Fall 2012 Weekend Program & Traditional

Published

Hello all!

I am currently in the process of applying to TWU's weekend program for Fall 2012 and I just wanted to start a new thread for any prospective TWU nursing students as well as current students!

For those of you who don't know, TWU has a weekend program for students with a previous bachelor degree in another field. From what I understand, if you are not selected for the weekend program, they will automatically consider you for the traditional program as well.

The minimum GPA requirement is 3.0 with the TEAS V entrance exam also required in order to apply..and of course you also have to complete the required pre-requisite courses.

Here is a link to the program for more information: http://www.twu.edu/nursing/weekend-program.asp

If anyone else has any more detailed information regarding this program, your input is certainly welcome. I hope this thread is helpful for anyone considering nursing school at TWU. :)

Ktdidit: Thanks for that info! Looks like I need to look into getting the HEP B soon. I also applied to UTHSC SA, UTA, & UTMB, but not a big fan of Galveston. Did u already take Chemistry II for UTHSC?

LiveLaughLoveLearn,

The UTHSC in Houston does not require Chemistry II we only had to take 4 hours of Chemistry so I took intro! We lucked out there! Galveston was my fall back option. I met some great people while I was there for open house but it is an hour drive from my house so that would be really tough for me. I would like to go to TWU or UT downtown Houston but I wanted to keep my options as open as I could for a BSN program!

Oh okay, I thought you applied for UTHSC San Antonio. SA requires 8 hours of chemistry :(

When I first started my pre-reqs I lived in San Antonio and was going to go there but we moved to Houston so I had to switch. I totally don't mind taking one less Chemistry though! :D

Really? Yeah, Chemistry wasn't that bad; just not my favorite course I would rather A&P :)

LiveLaughLearn, have you gotten your scores back? And I wouldn't worry, there are so many things that get factored in, we would work ourselves into a frenzy trying to figure them out.

Has anyone asked how many people are applying for Fall? I've heard there were +1000 for Spring 12

I am going to the information session this weekend and I will ask. I bet they don't have a solid number as of yet but I bet we can get a ball park idea! I am applying to the Houston campus so it will be their numbers!

Has anyone started applying for financial aid? I saw a bunch of the scholarships and money available for the Fall semester have a deadline in March. Anyone applying for it?

SSRM:

I have received my scores; I took the TEAS Jan. 13th and scored only 70%. I will have to be satisfied with that score for now, but I think my chances of getting in is good still. My science GPA is a 3.86, with the bump 4.26, and A's in all first attempts except A&P2 lab. So just being hopeful :D

LiveLaughLoveLearn,

Congratulations on your TEAS score! Your grades are great you should be good to go! Aren't you relieved your entrance tests are over? :)

Thanks Ktdidit!

Yes, I am VERY relieved because timed test are not my thing at all, but I actually managed my time really good. Are u glad as well?

Also, thanks for reminding me about the financial aid. I will be applying for financial aid and scholarships mid February; can't miss out on that! You should all apply for financial aid before the deadline because you don't have to accept the award on your portal for the Fall till April in case.
