Hello Everyone,
I have been looking to see if someone would make a forum for us that are applying for the fall 2021 Texas Woman's University nursing program. Since I have not found one I decided to make one. So let's get this forum started! Are you applying to Houston or Dallas? Have you taken your TEAS and if so what was your score? If you have any questions or any information you would like to share please do! I am applying to Dallas and I have yet to take the TEAS.

I know Sam Houston will give consideration for being a CNA at least 6 months, and UTMB will take experience into consideration, they allow you to submit your resume and a personal statement with your application.
For Sam Houston you get to choose between Woodlands or where main campus is, its a 5 semester program. UTMB is accelerated and 16 months.

Hey! So if I remember correctly my score was a 57 BUT, I had not gotten in the prior year with a score in the low 30s and spent a lot of time boosting my points. The minimum score that gets in from year to year varies but I think having a high 30's low 40s may be competitive, it just depends on the people applying with you.
Did you have health insurance before you got into the nursing program? Also, are there any type of scholarships that you saw by any chance through TWU that could be used for the WEP program. I noticed some semesters have 12 credit hours and some don't. So I was wondering if you could use scholarships with the semesters that they give students 12 credit hours. I'm sorry if these are really terrible questions, I just wanted to ask just in case you have any information in regards to anything like that. Thank you for any help.?

You are sweet to offer!!
I’m applying to the Dallas Traditional program so hopefully I’ll be there this fall!
Would you mind sharing what your daily/weekly class schedule looks like and if there is anything you wish you would have known or done before jumping in to the program?

Of course! I remember how many questions I had and I wish someone would have answered them before starting.
So to begin you guys are applying for the fall and that’s a harder semester to get into than the Spring. I had a 4.0 for my prerequisites and I made an 88 on the TEAS and I was waitlisted but then eventually offered a spot. I was not a TWU student so I didn’t get those points.
So for the J1 semester you take 12 hrs and if you haven’t taken patho like me, you get to take 16 hrs ? So due to COVID, the whole cohort currently has Pharm lecture on Monday mornings from 9-12 and then Assessment lecture from 2-5 and on Tuesdays we all have Concepts lecture from 1-5. All of these are via zoom. Patho is all online with no actual meet time. Then the cohort gets divided into groups of ten and these groups are who you will have your labs and clinicals with your whole semester. Your days for your assessment and concepts labs will vary. I have assessment lab on Wednesday mornings from 8-11:30 and my concepts lab was on Thursdays from 1-5 but now that we are in clinicals we have to be at the hospital at 5:30am. ? Oh and labs and clinicals are in person at the Dallas campus. I don’t have class on Fridays and that I love LOL but that’s basically what my weekly schedule looks like. It will vary for everyone and IDK if anything will change next semester due to COVID.
Things I wish I would have know....ummm once you’re accepted get your uniforms ASAP the bookstore runs out quick and takes forever to restock. Get your vaccinations done ASAP too along with your BLS certification. And don’t freak out, it’s not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It’s not easy either but it’s definitely worth the hard work.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions ?

Hi! Thank you for all the information! I just wanted to ask you how long you waited after being initially waitlisted then offered a spot?

I don’t exactly remember but I think it was a week or two because they give the first round of people who are accepted a chance to accept or decline and then they send the next set of acceptance letters to those on the wait list until it’s full ?
