Hello Everyone,
I have been looking to see if someone would make a forum for us that are applying for the fall 2021 Texas Woman's University nursing program. Since I have not found one I decided to make one. So let's get this forum started! Are you applying to Houston or Dallas? Have you taken your TEAS and if so what was your score? If you have any questions or any information you would like to share please do! I am applying to Dallas and I have yet to take the TEAS.

I have a 3.86 science GPA but I’m struggling with the TEAS. I’ve taken it 4 times already and I just can’t seem to get a higher score. I keep scoring in the 70s ? My highest score so far is a 79.3.
I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I’ve used smartprep and taken practice tests but it doesn’t seem to help as significantly as I thought it would. I know in order to be competitive as a transfer student with no bachelors degree I need to ace the TEAS. I would like to know if anyone has any study tips or suggestions? And how long did you study for the TEAS before taking the exam?
I studied 4-6 weeks before exam date. For reading, I guess you have to redo practice test. English: try to remember all grammar rules and misspell word.
science: I read the A&P book. Not the whole book. If it is too details I skip. I am more focus on diagrams like anatomical regions, bones. I found smart edition study guide does really good job on science portion.
and the last thing is doing more practice. Everytime I retook the TEAS, I bought a new practice book preferably all practice tests only. You can also find practice test online.
good luck!
I heard sp2022 is not solely point base of GPA and TEAS. If you have clinical experience, it will be helpful

So if I remember correctly my score was a 57 BUT, I had not gotten in the prior year with a score in the low 30s and spent a lot of time boosting my points. The minimum score that gets in from year to year varies but I think having a high 30's low 40s may be competitive, it just depends on the people applying with you.
Thanks for replying! Fingers crossed I make it ??I am at a 42 but hopeful. Do you mind sharing what WEP schedule is currently like? Thanks again!

So to begin you guys are applying for the fall and that’s a harder semester to get into than the Spring. I had a 4.0 for my prerequisites and I made an 88 on the TEAS and I was waitlisted but then eventually offered a spot. I was not a TWU student so I didn’t get those points.
So for the J1 semester you take 12 hrs and if you haven’t taken patho like me, you get to take 16 hrs ? So due to COVID, the whole cohort currently has Pharm lecture on Monday mornings from 9-12 and then Assessment lecture from 2-5 and on Tuesdays we all have Concepts lecture from 1-5. All of these are via zoom. Patho is all online with no actual meet time. Then the cohort gets divided into groups of ten and these groups are who you will have your labs and clinicals with your whole semester. Your days for your assessment and concepts labs will vary. I have assessment lab on Wednesday mornings from 8-11:30 and my concepts lab was on Thursdays from 1-5 but now that we are in clinicals we have to be at the hospital at 5:30am. ? Oh and labs and clinicals are in person at the Dallas campus. I don’t have class on Fridays and that I love LOL but that’s basically what my weekly schedule looks like. It will vary for everyone and IDK if anything will change next semester due to COVID.
Things I wish I would have know....ummm once you’re accepted get your uniforms ASAP the bookstore runs out quick and takes forever to restock. Get your vaccinations done ASAP too along with your BLS certification. And don’t freak out, it’s not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It’s not easy either but it’s definitely worth the hard work.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions ?
Thank you for sharing! May I ask what your admission score was when waitlisted? I keep trying to find some glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel for me! Congrats on making it in! I heard Fall Trad is really competitive. I applied for WEP with a score of 42 >.<

Hey there! I took advantage of the stay at home orders during 2020 and took as many classes as I could to finish up my pre-reqs and be eligible to apply for Fall 2021 semester. With that said, I barely had any breaks last year. At the end of my last semester in December, I was scheduled to take my first attempt at the TEAS just a week later. Worried, I ended up skipping it and losing my $100 and rescheduling to take it the beginning and end of January (since we only get two attempts). First time, I passed but with a 68% and second time I passed with an 81.3% What I wish I had done differently is to take a small break since my semester ended to just ~breathe~ instead of immediately beginning to study. I feel burnout really affected my score as well as inadequate sleep and exercise. Second time around I started doing yoga again and sleeping better. Which I KNOW helped improve my score.
Now to the materials I used:
I joined the facebook group after my first attempt, which I honestly wish I knew about like years ago. https://www.facebook.com/groups/ATIteas6/
I bought Brandon Craft's Mathwork book, sent the PDF to Office Depot and had them make a spiral notebook thing I could work out of. Seriously though, math is usually my weakness but I did the best in that section.
For A&P, Science with Susanna or "susannaheinze" on Youtube.
For Reading and English, honestly I am not sure what else except for "Caroline McAllister" on Youtube and KhanAcademy. I expected to do better in those areas but wish I would have practiced more or checked out the files on the facebook group.
I also bought Nursehub and the Mometrix Study Guide.
Hopefully I make the cut and don't have to retake the TEAS again but if I do then I am definitely going to go through all of the files on the facebook group. Wish you well!

This may be a silly question but.... I know the scrub tops have the TWU logo on them somehow, but can you buy your other scrub pants as long as they are the same color?

For fall 2020 I believe the cut-off admission score was 54 - but I think it changes based on how many applicants there are and everyone's scores. Like - if for some reason everyone had high admission scores, that would raise the cut-off score.
When I talked to an advisor in Dec I was told that as a transfer student with a 4.0 I would need at least an 89 on the TEAS to be competitive. An 89 would have given me a 54.63 admission score so that is on par with the 54 cut-off from last fall.
Hopefully that helps.

I heard that cut-off admission score for fall 2020 was around 57-58. And that scares me more! Now I'm more worry and nervours!
