Hello Everyone,
I have been looking to see if someone would make a forum for us that are applying for the fall 2021 Texas Woman's University nursing program. Since I have not found one I decided to make one. So let's get this forum started! Are you applying to Houston or Dallas? Have you taken your TEAS and if so what was your score? If you have any questions or any information you would like to share please do! I am applying to Dallas and I have yet to take the TEAS.

I'm applying to the N/W program. I haven't seen any information about how a repeated course gets calculated into your admission scores. Does anyone know about this?
Good luck everyone!
I think if you repeat a course, they will take the grade of the second attempt and ignore the grade of the first attempt.

Really? I had an advising appointment back in June and that's when the advisor told me that they take the grade of the second attempt. I also saw on the instructions for filling out the excel sheet that they take the grade of the second attempt, regardless if it's higher or lower than the first attempt, when calculating your nursing GPA/admission score.

That would be incorrect. TWU takes your most recent letter grade attempted. Just to clarify with everyone, TWU goes off letter grades only (ex: A,B,C,etc.). They do not calculate grades as an A+ or B- for example. Therefore, if you made a B in a course the first time and repeat that course and improve to an A, then will take the grade A. I know this first hand being a TWU student. It would be difficult for them to average two grades together if it’s based off letter grades only.....

This is correct. ???
When nursingcas processed my application and calculated my gpas they averaged out the original grade and the retake - that is what I’m basing my answer off of. Not hearsay from advisors but literally what has happened with my application. Because (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) told me to retake three courses and I did but it didn’t even help me because they averaged them out.

NursingCAS will calculate your GPA this way; however, TWU does not. I have taken ALL my prerequisites at TWU and repeated a nursing core class that I originally had a B grade in, and was able to improve it to an A. My GPA went up as a result on my TWU transcript and it actually states on the transcript “grade replaced”, meaning the first attempted grade was disregarded. With all do respect, this is not hearsay information being provided by an advisor, but something I know personally. It makes no sense to me how they would go about being able to average a letter grade, but maybe someone may be able to better explain this. Many people from previous forums have stated what I am saying as well. I hope this clears up any confusion anyone may have. ?

I just checked mine, They forget to put microbio in and some class for core block. I need to email them to fix this. Hope it does not interfere with nursing app.
Stay warm! And Good luck!
Hey! I actually had the same problem as you did, my microbio and nutrition class wasn't updated into the degree evaluation thing even though they received my transcript a long time ago. I contacted them and the next day they updated it right away. Then I emailed a nursing advisor to ask if that would interfere with my nursing app, but the advisor didn't really answer my question, instead the advisor just opened my app and processed it. Honestly, I hope I'm not wrong but I don't think that they look at the degree plan evaluation, the advisors have access to your actual transcripts that you sent in and they will look at that. Also I am a post-bacc student and I have some nursing pre-req courses that I took apart of my bachelor's degree, but twu doesn't post the courses from a bachelor's degree onto the degree plan evaluation, so for that the advisors have to look at my actual bachelor's degree transcript. So it doesn't seem that they will go off of the degree plan evaluation because it doesn't have all the courses for a student listed there, and its unreliable. I hope this made sense!

The eligibility email gets sent to the email that you used for NursingCAS. I used my personal email for NursingCAS so the eligibility email got sent to my personal email. If someone used their school email for NursingCAS then the eligibility email would get sent to their school email.
